Wish me luck

Hi everyone In Whincup land, just wanted to let ya's all know (or all those that are interested) that I am going into hospital here in Bendigo tomorrow 26/06/08 to have some corrective surgery done to my foot & ankle.
Some know what happened but for those who dont know I may as well tell ya's all the story.
OK just over 12 months ago I got home from work & was preparing to have a shower, I pulled my boots off & noticed that it had started raining. So I pulled all the soap & bathroom girlie stuff that was on a small table and as soon as I put full weight on it the table slipped out from under me but my foot got twisted inside the table and I came crashing down on it and I heard "snap crackle pop" and thought "this has gotta hurt".
Anyway it turns out I dislocated 5 bones and crushed another 6 & tore a heap of ligaments. I have had a heap of physio & hydrotherapy on it but it just wont come good, I can only stand on it for about 3 hr's & am in constant pain. So I go in to hossy 2morrow and they are going to shave some bone to improve some movement & have a look at a few ligaments that they are a bit suss on. But the main thing is I wont be able to log on a check out the goss for about 4-5 days as I HAVE to lay still. But hopefully it fix things up. Actually in some ways it has been a sort of a blessing coz I was just doin laboring work so now I am doing a computer course so hopefully I will end up with a better Job out of the whole thing.
If any of you guys have been through something similar I would love to hear how you got on, I know every situation is different but still be good to hear of others that have been through similar situations.
Oh hey Jamie if your reading this and you find yourself thinking "I wonder what I could do to cheer him up" well ummm I would loooove a T8 cap.
Oh for any up dates I am sure good ol Kate Martin will be able to let you all know how I am going as she works with my wife. I have begged Kate to try and brain wash my wife into T8 & Ford Supercars but I dont think she is having too much success. so come on Kate get stuck into her matey.
Chat with you all soon after the operation.

Darren, already wished you luck elsewhere… but the more luck the better.

One suggestion for joint problems is Glucosamine - which the body uses to make cartilage. Can get tablets in health food shops/health food isle of supermarket.

Darren Barnes

Darren Barnes 7:54 pm June 25th 2008

Yeah why not Kate, I wont be needing it tomorrow so I will get Shaini to drive the mighty BA in to work tomorrow, just as long as it comes back with tread on the rear tires, he he, actually when the roads are a tad wet sometimes I am tempted to put it into a bit of a drift now & again Shaini loves it (not).
Anyway mate please keep working on her.
Actually I’ve got a great idea, she has started doing the odd jigsaw puzzle so I might have to buy her one of the T8 cars.
Chat soon, Whincup/T8/Ford fans.

Take care

Hey Darren,

All the best … hope they fix you up mate.

I’ve just had an operation on my left ankle … went into hospital straight after I got back from Sandown. Had my third arthoscope from an injury over eight years ago and every 3-4 years have to go back and have it looked at. So my crutches and I are still best friends for another week or so.

Good news is when you get up and about, you can log in and keep up to date. That’s what I did last week while I was lying around the house … kept my sanity for a bit.

Here’s to a speedy recovery and take care.

Cheers TC

Well this is the big day, I really want to thank everyone that has wished me luck.
Hey Andrew & Des I definitely will get some of those tabs & I have been wanting to try some of that fish oil.
They reckon it’s basically the fountain of youth.
OH Kate, Kate, Kate I told Shaini to take the BA into work so you can have it for the weekend, but she said that she really likes her walk to work, so I suggested that she gets up earlier to go for a walk & then drives the beast into work. But I looked out the window this monin & the BA is still there. It really needs a wash so dont you worry I WILL let you take her for a spin (as long as you & maybe your boys might like to give it a wash) lol.
Nah dont worry mate when I’m all betta I will work somethn out. Hey come to think of it why dont you just think “what the hey” & rock down to you’re bank & get a loan & go and just buy the new FG XR 6 Turbo woooo hooo then well definitely swap cars for the weekend.
I think I am dribbling on a bit, it must be nerves not long now and my Daddy comes to take me to the hospital.
Chat with ya’s all soon.
Dasha.
