I think Shane Price he is a really good handy driver to have under your wing

i would also agree with you and say shane price. but i think andrew thompson and tony dalberto i would like to see a alot more of these yonger guys.
Bill 11:00 am October 20th 2008
Dean Canto/Greg Ritter
Both weren't given a good go by their teams
Greggo 11:30 am October 20th 2008
Hmmm,
I think Fabulous Coulthard(Fabio) haha… I think he has had a stellar year and if PCR were to go to a 2 car team, i think we would see in a few years time another strong team…
A few other names i would mention
Canto, Wilson, Stevie Owen(i have only changed my opinion of him since Phillip island)…
Unfortunatly i think some of Whincups Skills are under rated. Everyone baggin him about those pressure mistakes his made.. HELLO the guy is still gaining experiance!

Gizzy…

Shave vanGisbergen and Shane Price. I watched Gizzy at Sandown and was very impressed by his driving in the last race. Best driving i have seen so far this year. Shane Price needs to be given a chance in a team that is not in developmet mode. Price would be good with HSV or in a FORD!

There are a few, Alex Davison and Steve Owen would head the list.
Although after the last few events, I think Steve Owen’s star has risen enough that people actually rate him.
In terms of being grossely under-rated, I think when Richard Lyons drove for Triple 8, he was terrific given his level of experience in V8’s. His performance in 2007 was good too. It is a shame he didnt have the time to come back this year.

I’d have to agree with most of you - Steve Owen is definitely underrated and should’ve had a full-time drive this year.
Shane Price - well, obviously Larry under-rates him, seeing as he got the sack last week. Pity, the kid was doing a pretty good job for someone who hasn’t been in the main game for long. Jack Perkins will drive in his place for the rest of this season… not quite sure how I feel about that.
Fabian is a bit of a gun - he’s really come into his own this year. I think his consistency is being noted, but he doesn’t get the coverage of some of the other guys.
It’ll be interesting to see which under- and over-rated drivers make the cut come round 1 of 2009… I look forward to seeing what unfolds.

definitely Shane Van Gisbergen.
-this kid surprised me at the start of the year.
expect BIG things still to come from him.

Steve Owen, Fabian Coulthard and Gizzy atm -although he’s young and will be noticed by more people very quickly. Also can’t work out why Luke Youlden has never been given a full-time main game ride- his form in enduros has been pretty good imo.
Oh, and Grant Denyer- he’s more than just a TV personality.

Well this might surprise a few of you as this guy has been around a while, but I think Jason Bargwanna is a driver with the talent that can mix it with “anyone” if he has the right machinery.
Look at how he has been going in the Minni class, all cars are identical so it’s all down to driver talent.
I understand that him being not as big as half of the other drivers might help in the weight department, but he was going ballistic in that “Bottle O” entry at Bathurst until it got shoved into the barrier toward the end of the race. But I also think that he would make a great replacement for James Courtney at SBR, they need someone with experience that can help young Gizz & he would just boost moral at any team.
So yeah I reckon Barggs is the man.

i think in many ways all drivers are underestimated or underrated and even the mighty have fallen for a bad season or two….. despite clear talent behind the wheel…. i think many dont get the exposure they deserve…. even if running at the back of the field it needs to b recognised that these guys r racing at the pointy end of oz motorsport n should b congratualted for getting there………..
Darren Barnes 10:50 am October 22nd 2008
That is a very valid point Cheryl, you are dead right there would be allot of drivers that are running at the rear of the field that would have the potential to mix it up front given the right machinery.
Which raises another issue & that is cost containment as the teams with the biggest budget can afford the right personnel & equipment & so on.
Just off topic I would love to see a race of “ALL” our current V8 boys in a race with the exact same cars no adjustment to be made at all so the cars are identical & see what drivers come up to the top.
I have no doubt there would be plenty of biff & barg but it would be great to see.
Just like the Minni class, Jason Bargwanna is doing a sterling job & is talent being waisted, & I hate seeing drivers with talent being waisted.
