I think it’s when comment’s like “I had a connection with Jamie” is made and also when they bombard poor Jamie with pm’s every time he is in chat or online….

A fan has gone 2 far when they create fictional tales
about their ‘idol’, believing that they share a connection (which they
obviously don’t), pretending and bragging about how they have me their
idol (when they clearly haven’t), and when their mindset becomes
somewhat obsessive, wishfuly thinking that they actually have a future with the
‘idol’, I think that would pretty much indicate that a fan has gone too far. lol

I agree with all of the above. there has been some fine displays of fans going to far here and all over the world of late.
What is the reason you became a fan in the first place? For me motorsport is first! i love the V8’s I am Ford! and T8 are the team I have followed for years, Jamie has allowed us into his world by creating this site and allowing us to ask him questions but sometimes people forget that this is about Motorsport!
Respect seems to be forgotten a lot people are “celebraties” because they are good at something and have chosen to share that talent with the world, if they are going to be chased by crazed fans perhaps they wont share anymore!

i also have to agree with this topic.. im not here because i am in love with jamie.. i have been a fan of ford ever since i was born and i follow jamie because he is an amazing driver with a heart and great personality.. I think a few people take this way to far sometimes. “celebrities” are normal people that should be given their space sometimes.

I do thank jamie for making this site to let us interact with him.. maybe some people should let jamie have a little space when he comes into chat not hound him with pms all the time

i think it’s when people clearly believe that after seeing their idol, ie Jamie, they think that there is a real connection and that their idol would find them if they could. They create a world in their minds, thinking that their idol wants them and will stop at nothing to be with them… when really all they are is delusional.

Leave the poor guys alone… i’m sure the last thing they want is some crazy fan turned stalker coming after them

I agree with most of the above post’s….I have witnessed people who do get a bit delusional /obsessed n I don’t think that’s a harsh remark at all it is fact….some people do get a little obsessesive /delusional with celebraties…celebraties are normal people who as Kate said,have shared their talent with the world,and they deserve our utmost respect.
We are all fans of motorsport,T8 and of course Jamie,and he created this amazing site for all of us to show our support of him and to allow us to connect with other fans, to make friends with other fans and to share our love of the sport n the team. Jamie does give his valuable time to his site n his supporters,lets not spoil this by bombarding him with things like pm’s everytime he is online,give him some space and allow him to be free to join in on discussions/live chat without being harassed,Otherwise he may be forced to cease this interaction with us.

Maybe Toby and Matt can change it so Jamie can still hop on line with us but is UN ABLE to get pm's, (but if he wants to send one he still can). That way he will be free to join in and wont have to worry about getting harassed.

Carley is spot on with the word delusional……….some just dont understand or dont want to understand. I’ve seen it many times and, on occassions, I have seen “delusional” fans come very close to breaking up the athlete/celebs current relationship. They have convinced themselves the athlete/celeb is making a romantic gesture when, in reality - that world/mindset that the majority of us live in - they are only being courteous and polite……just as you would expect.

Please let me know via PM if you believe any members may have gone to far. Jamie has said nothing to that effect but we all know what a great guy he is and, being so supportive of his fan base, probably wouldnt any way.

We have the ability to monitor such “over enthusiasim” so please let me know. We dont want a few ill mannered people spoilling it for everyone.

I hole heartedly agree with all the above. You can go way to far with a celebrity when a person gets obsessed. Jamie is such a nice guy to have done a site like this for his fans. So when he gets on the chat link of it to only have a heap of pm’s sent to him. Let him just chat to everyone. Some people just don’t know when to stop. If they are not careful it can end up as stalking. I’m sure nobody wants it to get that far.

he he he he Home Loan Man,he’s probably to busy with all the Ladies that’s why.a lot of good points made in earlier discussions i must say.i’m certain Jamie would love to able to sit down in the Whincup lounge and have a nice quiet conversation with all his members without being bombarded with PM’S.when he can’t do that he must get very frustrated.then i wouldn’t blame him for not comeing on at all.Respect is something very important to everyone,well it should be anyway.we should all treat Jamie with respect and courtesy and then you will get the same in return.

I have not been on here much of late because some ppl hav changed this site from being the fun laid back site that it was to start with into a stalkers paradise…

Most ppl are fantastic and i have enjoyed meeting up with them, but there is some ppl that come across (as i have not met them in person) very full on/stalker-ish!!!!

This is one of the main reasons, why i don’t come on anymore. Sorry but some people go too far in the way they carry on.

I was in live chat here and on MSN with another JW Member last week when Jamie entered the chat room. I rolled my eyes and MSN'd the other Member and said "watch how many log in and bombard the poor bugger with questions all at once".

The count got up to about 6 questions in 4 minutes, and I did a running count for this rather shy Member (she had a giggle, but asked no questions, what a sweety).

Anyhoo, I can see how people get annoyed when JW logs into the chat-room, only to be asked questions that are better suited to the 'Ask Jamie' thread. Maybe he just wants to have a chat, and ask some of US some questions…..?

This happened years ago on the old V8Motorsport.com site when Marcos logged in. He was just swamped with questions, and it was impossible to keep up with.

Now, I've met Jamie twice, but he still wouldn't know me from a bar of soap. The first time was last year at the Brizzy Ford Fan Day when I won the Hot Lap with JBR, and shook his hand on stage before Grant D asked me a few questions. The 2nd time was a few days later when a mate and myself went out to the 888 workshop. JW had just finished an interview with Cromley, and was due in the City 5 minutes before, but he still took the time to have a chat (we also caught CL with his pants down [literally] on the same visit).
The only other interaction I've had was photographing Mel the other day for her Hot-Lap with JW, and probably my only question to Jamie here so far…………"Mate, can you change your text color"?

I loved the answer, it's now a part of my sig (but not here).

Honestly, use the 'Ask Jamie' section to do just that, but if he gets on 'Live Chat', give the bloke some space, I dare say he'd love to just chat with his Members without all the questions.

Yes everyone should remember Jamie set up this site for us, his fan’s(because he is such a nice guy n wants to thank his fan’s for their support) and he really does deserve our full on respect!! RESPECT people’s it not alot to ask!!! and as for Fan’s that go too far they should just step off n not spoil this site for everyone else who has respect for Jamie and what he has done for us by setting up this site,not to mention what he has done for the sport we all love!!!Great point Wheels too by the way,and I agree with you fully Also may I just point out I have notced some bitchyness going on between members here,and I’m not saying we all have to get along but this is no place for bitchyness between members so please don’t use jamie’s site to bitch against other members depite how you may feel,this most definatly NOT the place for airing out your personal feelings towards fellow members!!!!So you all know who you r n I ask please stop the Bitching and stop spoiling this site for everyone else!!!!We are here for Jamie and T8,not bitching,obsessive/compulsive behaviour or delusions!!!

Because of Jamie’s kindness (oh and matts) this site is FREE, we are ALL getting something for nothing, which is very rare these days.

im sure if we had to pay for this site there would be allot less members (for better or worse) but it would nut out the nutters or most of them anyway…

dont really know wat im supposed to saying here as its quite late, but come on guys Jamie is doing a HUGE service to his fans/supporters by having this site up for FREE, could we please have a little respect as other members have stated. as what is the point of having this site if Jamie doesnt feel safe for a better word to come on here and have a little chat with a few members without getting mobbed or stalked..

if i was JW for 1, i would ask Matt/Toby to turn off the site & to not bother with it…. Luckily Jamie isnt that kind of bloke!
