Hi Jamie, I was wondering if the 888 team has ever considered going around to schools and letting kids know what it is like to be part of a V8 team and explaining how a team works and what goes on behind the scenes. It would be great for kids to see you and Craig at their schools.

Hi Kerrie, I know some of the drivers visit schools most rounds to do tree planting. I don’t know how much they talk about the team and how it works, but I’m sure the kids ask plenty of questions while they’re there.
I just did a search on the V8 Supercars site and there is a page on it in the V8 Racing Green section. It says “In addition to the native tree planting, a comprehensive education programme has been put in place in primary schools to highlight the awareness of carbon emissions and global warming. At every race round, drivers go to a local school, speak to the children and teaching staff and plant native trees with the children as a practical way of getting the message across.”
There are lots of photos of the drivers at the schools on that page too. (To find it, go to v8supercars.com.au then click on the V8 Racing Green link which is on the right hand side of the page, then skip the intro, choose Australia, then click on School Activites.)
Hope that helps.

Yes,
Jamie has done a number of school visits and recently visited AB Patterson on the Gold Coast!
Fluid PR ran a V8 SUpercar Schools program with a development series team throughout 05/06/07 educating young drivers about speeding and care on the streets. I believe V8 Supercars have now pinched that idea and will run a program in the future just the same.

Thanks Matt do you still think Jamie and Craig would still go to schools on their own. I know my kids school in Ipswich would love it if they turned up they are a small school of only just over 100 - 150. They miss out on alot of things because of being a small school. It’s a good school as all the kids know each other.

I cant speak for Craig as he has his own management.
Toby and I have previously done a number of school visits in Ipswich with the Yamaha Racing Team Superbikes.

Which school did you visit I think its great how people like yourself and Toby do those things for kids ad it can give them an insight to how things go on and maybe give them a choice of what to do in the future. How do you go about getting someone like Jamie to a school.

Would they go to schools in NSW coz they mainly go to schools in VIC and QLD and i want them to come to my high school and i think the guys in my school would benift from someone telling them about speeding and street care coz they are all so dum and think they are king of the road and yeah
i think they sould go around to the high schools in citys like Arthur Phillip High School in Parramatta yeah hehehe (hint hint)
