V8 Supercars Australia Chairman Tony Cochrane is very rarely wrong, but one exception was when he believed the Queensland Government would not replace Indy cars with A1GP for the Surfers Paradise round in 2009.
“The A1GP is $320 million in the red and my personal thought is that the Government wouldn’t look at that Championship,†he told BigPond Sport in September.
The Big Questions is " Do you think the A1GP will Over ride V8's" at Indy, and will they pull the same crowds.
My thought from the research that has been done in the past would be that it doesnt matter who races with the V8's in Australia, most of the public are there to see the V8's RACE!

If I could make it to Indy I’d be quite happy to see the A1 GP race with the V8’s as I follow both seasons. I can’t wait for the Taupo round to hit us here in NZ at the end of January. I don’t think the A1 GP gets as much publicity as the V8’s it certainly dosen’t get shown on TV as much but as you said it dosen’t matter who races with them.
Earl Bamber is from Wanganui which is where I’m from and hes done such an outstanding job racing black beauty not as much luck from the rookie Chris Van Der Drift at Chengdu but still not a bad result.

A1’s at the Surfers track is better than them racing at Eastern Creek, but as we all know everyone is there for the V8’s.

Should be good, may lift the profile of A1 GP a bit in Australia. Will be better for them to race there than at EC.
IMO the move wont affect crowd numbers as the majority of people who attend Surfers go for either the V8s or the party atmosphere, not the Champ/Indycars.

The A1 needs something to bring it to the public eye in Australia maybe a round with the V8’s in Surfers will open a few peoples eyes to what good racing it can really be i was at the first one at EC and apart from the lack of spectators it was an awesome time …
