I wanted to go faster and brake later than i was allowed, but thats totally a good thing coz chances are i would have binned it, and therefore my advice, as all before have said, is listen to the instructor...oh and don't stall it leaving the pits...that was embarressing. :( Did the one at Willowbank a few months ago and absolutely loved it! He agrees with the advice from Jamie to 'drive like the instructor tells you'. He's now in even more awe of V8 drivers and their incredible skills.
