One of the favourite would of been Ambrose V Murphy, because you don't see many driver's get out of the car and exchange words like that in the middle of The Cutting anymore!

one other shocking crash that sticks in my head is Jason Richards in 2003 in New Zealand, lost control of the car coming round a bend, slid out of control and ran over the tyre bundles and flipped the car like 5 or 6 times at extremely high speed, and was able to get out out the car with only a bruise.....

and not much of a crash but when ingal and skiafe had a blue at bathurst and skaife was still on the track waiting to have his car towed back and ingall comes around the corner and skaife runs over to the side of the track going of his head and ingall swerved to scare him!!!!! now that was a heated moment

I would hav 2 say that 1of my Favourite crashs was when Murphy & Ambrose had their crash at the top of the Mountain, I found it quite funny how they had abit of a chat about it on the race track!!!

But the best 1 was when Lowndes had that really bad crash at Calder Park, It was really nice that drivers stopd 2 help him!!

Thanks Dasha. Means a lot to me, and more importantly, to all the volunteers, regardless of what we do.
Its ironic that since posting this, I have been inside a crashed HQ, and got two Forimula Ford guys out of a horrendous crash, both at QR.
Oh well, it's all fun and games.
Note to Jamie: Ban me from posting a week before the QR V8's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To "John XYZ (stig)" I agree with you, when you think about it we want to see pure motor racing not crashes. As you pointed out motor racing can be dangerous and unfortunately sometimes people are hurt or even killed.
So I want to congratulate you on the work that you do because without people like you, flagies and just people that volunteer to help behind the scenes we wouldn't have any motor racing.
So cheers to you mate and lets hope you never have to attend a fatal accident, well done and top post.
Dasha.

the most recent memorable one for me was last year at Barhain when both lowndes and whincip went flying into the sand and both slid into the wall at the beginning of the race and then that was then finished for the weekend. that sticks in my head as i saw a replay of it the other day and if time could be re written whincup probably been 2007 champion if he was able to finish that race........

but the funniest is when holden team mate take out each other, etc.. tander and kelly taking each other out last year, not exactly sure what round it was tho

Skaife/ Ingall at EC in '03 was a good laugh (although a very serious situation) did make for good entertainment.

Funny thing... I said to my Dad on the Friday of Bathurst in 05' that it would be funny if someone had an accident and blocked the track and the winners of the race got through and everyone else was stuck behind the accident. Well i came close enough, so that was a memorable incident.....

Also Lowndes in 1999.... huge accident, but can't get over the way that all the other drivers stopped for him, great stuff (and the way that LP had a geez under the HRT car lol)

The one that I will never forget is an oldie but goes down in Bathurst legend status.
The 1983 top ten shootout lap when Dick Johnson had the Green's Tuff Falcon absolutely screaming and then just before Conrod the back end stepped out & tagged the wall then the front tire hit a tire barrier and broke hid steering arm & sent him flying off into the trees. I nealy started cryn coz it looked that bad I thought he would've been killed. The car was like someone had just screwed up an aluminum can. And then there was the rebuild "ALL NIGH", and the car would've been OK if they hadve wired the alternator up properly, it kept on draining his batteries.
I will never forget that, you can see it on U Tube just type in

Another sickening crash was Murph at Philliip Island when he went head-on into the tyre barrier at a massive speed. I will have to get back to you on the year! ....at a guess about 10 years ago...

most memorable crashes for me were, morris/larkham crash at oran park, i was sitting on the oppisite side of the track and felt the heat from the fire ;definatly skaife/perkins at bathurst in 06,the skaife/tander combination is the one car i wanted to see dnf, i was in the grandstand and before the race there was an older chap who abused a young lady for taking photos just before the start(it was her first bathurst),he told her that he didn't pay good money to have his view blocked,he went missing in action for a few hours after the skafie/perkins crash, and when he came back he was heckled in a way i've never seen before by holden and ford fans;and the crash between dick johnson /bowe at surfers both sliding along the walls staring at each other (from memory).

Favorite one to watch (knowing about 20 years later that he's still fine) is that nasty one of Dick Johnson qualifying at bathurst, in 1983 sliding out at forrest elbow, clipping the tire barrier, snapping the steering linkage...

I hate all crashes, particularly ones that I have to attend.....
It's funny, because I get to many things that the punters don't see, a privelege that I hold close to my heart, I may add.
My most memorable experiences as a rescue official are all seemingly small things.
I shared a bottle of Gatorade with Kerryn Brewer on a stnking hot day at Lakeside once, I have shared a urinal with half of the grid after the first pit stop at Bathurst, and even pit crewed at the QLD500 once!
My favorite experince is yet to come: Its the next time when I get inside a crashed car and i see the look of relief in a driver's eyes and I say "Hi buddy, i'm John, I'm a firefighter, your safe now."
That's what I live for.

Wow, that was a close one Dorothy.

Agreed, Ingall/ Skaife at EC and Ambrose's "control tyre" (great call by Barry Sheene) are the funniest incidents.

Got most enjoyment out of Skaife and Murphy both going into the wall together at turn 8 at Adelaide in 2006- after that I didn't care who won, but glad Jamie did anyway.

And Skaife/ Perkins at Bathurst... in fact any crash involving Skaifey does it for me!

your clip from Bahrain does get a giggle andrew but it does also remind me of the worst accident i've seen in motorsport.South African Grand Prix where Tom Pryce was killed.Gilles Villeneuve's accident would be a close second.can't think of any funny crashes.
