Front page in todays paper says that Townsville accommodation is pretty much sold out for the weekend of the V8's in July. This is awesome for Townsville. They are even starting a tent city in the showgrounds for those who can't get hotel rooms.

I can’t wait either. Get to stay in my own nice bed for a change at a race! most places in townsville are only 10 min from the track!

I would like to live in a bed, but i live in a tent, and my bed is a sleeping bag.

I rang around a day after the dates were released, and had sooo much trouble finding accommodation, ended up getting a place on the strand though. I have heaps of family in Townsville, but much prefer to stay in a motel, so I can come and go as I like…. I can’t wait…but I hope you can see a fair amount of the track though…

I think you can see a fair bit of the track. went round the area when they released the track and it looks good!

I have no doubt that Townsville is going to be huge.
North Queensland has been starved of V8 racing in the past. Expect it to built momentum and grow even bigger year to year.

would also be noice to turn up at Townsville with some quality Jamie Whincup merchandise.

Yes Jamie we have been starved!! It costs me a fortune to go and see a v8 race as there really is no close race. On average it is about a grand for me to travel to one! I can’t wait to have one on my turf. There is no doubt it is big. The reaction up here when they were first talking about the race was huge.
