This is driving me crazy, why is there such a huge break between races.
I am lucky cause I love F1 too, but there will be 3 F1 rounds in this break from the V8's. And there is another huge break later in the year!
Anyone else going NUTS????
Too long between races…

Glad to see that I have a kindred spirit I am like a little kid at christmas counting down the sleeps

I think it’s because we were a bit spoilt at the start of the year having the first 3 rounds so close together! That doesn’t usually happen. Sure was nice while it lasted though
Bring on NZ!!!!
AND Perth…..cause I think I’m going there
craig hinton 6:29 pm April 2nd 2008
Yep i agree, i think it should be NO more than 3 weeks between rounds any longer than 3 weeks seems to long, good to see you follow F1 Denise i am a big F1 fan too, l but i have always enjoyed the touring cars as well!

Shhheeeeessshhh guys let them have a little down time.. not only have Jamie and Craig been flat out so have the crew….. if it was you wouldn’t you want some down time ????????
Leaha 6:38 pm April 2nd 2008
I totally agree Dorothy. Everyone needs “me” time. I don’t know how you guys do it being in the public eye. You do a GREAT job handling all the pressure.
specially with all the people that want a piece of you all the time.
craig hinton 7:10 pm April 2nd 2008
I would do Jamies job if i could, even if you don’t get alot of down time and have to be in the public eye, you get to drive a really nice race car and you get paid pretty well too for doing it!

As we have previously discussed in another topic our little country cannot afford any more racing than we have - Unfortunately. Betwwen all our sporting codes and events there just aint enough money to go around.
And if the season was condensed then we would all be screaming about a three month break either at the start or end of the season.

ah - i think the point that is being made is that we had 3 race weekends in 4 weeks, and nothing for 4 weeks. doesnt really make sense. we are not saying put more races on, but space them out evenlly where possible, so we dont have to wait so long between race weekends.
i do agree with doe, drivers and teams do need down time, however if the meets were spread out a little better, then they would get some down time, rather then as i said b4 the 3 meets in 4 weeks, and then nothing for 4 weeks.
and also no need to jump down the throats of some people who are just pointing out that they are missing the v8 action! thats not cool! we are all v8 fans here…… maybe not all of you miss them as much as me and a few others!
just my opinion!

I understand they can’t do anymore rounds then what they currently have, but all the footy fans at work are driving me nuts! 3 nights a week, every week - give me a break!

If V8 Supercars could get the same backing and sponsor involvement as NASCAR then we could maybe have more race weekends throughout the year.
However they also use a control chassis which does not happen here (I prefer it that way LOL).
However their program does need to be evened out a little.
Something that we should consider is
1) the placement of the AGP is a determining factor in turnaround time to or from Clipsal
2) If they raced 15 rounds (incl. AGP) each year, and they were all 3 weeks apart that would take up 45 weekends of the possible 52 in a year. Thus leaving a 7 week break to the new season.
Therefore some cramming of events is necessary to allow for not only development in the off-season but also to accommodate for the fly-away rounds.
I know we all want more racing, but in the time period shown above, a 3 week turnaround for every round is not possible.
Lindy Hall 9:21 pm April 2nd 2008
can i ask andrew - what exactly is your point. are you saying we would need the races to be on more often then every three weeks for there to be enough holiday break in the off season?
ok - cool cramming is fine but not 4 weeks between races here, and another 6 weeks in the middle of the year.
you know what u mean?
and please, correct me if im wrong with what you were saying… as im not too sure
Denise 9:26 pm April 2nd 2008
I totally understand all points above, but I really just love V8 and F1 racing and miss it when it is so long between races!
I seriously hope all the teams and drivers have a good relaxing/ productive break …but I cant wait for 15 days time when I get my V8 fix and can bore all the footy fans at work with my car talk
Muz [JWCR Team Manager] 9:50 pm April 2nd 2008
DW
I posted it myself and realised I went on a massive tangent from what everyone else was talking about, and it turned into a massive rant for how it works or something like that…..
I think I have confused myself with my own pointless crap LOL
Sorry lol
Maddy 10:17 pm April 2nd 2008
Yeah I agree with evenly spaced racing. Obviously only if they can.
Kitty Cat:cat: 10:35 pm April 2nd 2008
Yeah I go fully nuts without my V8 fix!!!…can understand the drivers need breaks but I wish there were V8’s on every weekend!!Screw the footy and da cricket!Give the V8’s the money so we can have more of our awesome sport:)So over cricket and footy of all codes!
Erin Morrison 10:36 pm April 2nd 2008
I couldn’t agree more, the break is far too long.
Not only is counting down the days until the next race painful, we have to put up with things like Cricket and Footy when the V8’s aren’t on…
and just to make things worse for me, my parents got VIP tickets to go to the Adelaide Motor Show before it opened to the public, and GUESS WHO WAS THERE, Craig Lowndes! So there I am bored out of my mind in school when I get a message ‘guess who we just saw’ yeah great way to cheer me up cause I had to go to school…
Kitty Cat:cat: 10:43 pm April 2nd 2008
Aww thats not good Erin!!I’d be like well did you get me a photo of lowndes and an autograph!!And yes counting down the days until the next race is way too painful!!!!Can’t wait til my next fix of V8 racing!!
Montanna (Mon) 10:46 pm April 2nd 2008
I also think the break is too long. I understand peoples points about the cost of v8 supercars and the like, but to truly compete with afl, nrl and cricket etc, surely we can fit just a couple of more rounds in per year. To me it just seems like the longer the wait the less die hard supporters will think well this sucks lets watch the footy and forget about races coming up. I just think there should be at least another 2 or 3 rounds per year and to have it spread out nicely. I think andrew your idea sounded good. Although the annoying thing is our calender has to work in with AFL of course which is wrong but anyhoo. I am just not looking forward to the olympics thats a 5/6 week break. Once again our sport bows down to make way for another. I mentioned in another post somewhere one of the reasons Amrbose went stateside was for more racing, Jamie is interested in nascar for the same reasons. You have racers out there that just wanna race and head overseas to get that its a shame really. But sorry thats just my opinion, and sorry i had a little rant!
Kitty Cat:cat: 10:56 pm April 2nd 2008
Well said Montanna!!!Why should our awesome sport have to make way for things like footy (of which there are too many codes)and cricket which have way too many tournaments like 20/20,the ashes etc.Lets get more V8 races going and prevent our talent from heading overseas to fufill their racing desires etc!!!We already lost the likes of Ambrosse…..
Damien Nevins 1:12 pm April 3rd 2008
Yeah i guess it is a long break, but the guys do need a break/rest.
