Picture this, you're five minutes away from the track on a beautiful sunny day…….what song are you going to listen to?. I've got a few……
"The Middle" Jimmy Eat World
"Fuel" Metallica
"Personal Jesus" (Manson version)
"Plaing to Win" John Farnham
and my number one…..
"Speed" Billy Idol
OK, maybe you're about 20 minutes away from the track……:-)

Oh we made a “oran park soundtrack” last yaer -it consisted of 3 Cd’s and had justin timberlake, Kill hannah, Billy idol, Queen, Matchbox 20, The almost, underoath, robbie williams, AFI, MCR…

however, it was mostly just our “fave” songs at the time

great thread and idea Leanne ! Speed is certainly a walk up start, i agree. My other personal “to the track” faves:…”The Race” - Yello,,”Know your enemy” - Rage against the Machine,” Woke up this morning” - Sopranos Theme, “Jump” - Van Halen and the usual classics like “Kryptonite” - 3 Doors down
“Hitchin a ride” - Green Day, Holy Grail and of course… the essential “King of the Mountain”.

“going ths distance” is also a fav race song.

i tend to like the songs that the tv network puts the ads and v8 clips to like “le disko” by shiney toy guns

and then to remember Peter Brock, i throw on “heroes” by david bowie.

but yeah, “born to be wild” , “flower” by moby, “thunderstruck” acdc, “free bird” by lynard skynard (man that instrumental is MENTAL!) um, and what others have said are TOPS!

Do you mean “Radar Love” Darren?? Cause that is a pretty cool song! An oldie though, that’s for sure :-)

And I guess Stephanie and Lindy mean “The Distance” by Cake?? That was such an awesome album! “Race Car Ya Ya’s” is a beauty as well, and probably quite fitting :-)

“Pretender” - Foo Fighters… sure not original as it was the V8 theme song last year but it gets the blood pumping as I can see the pictures in my head at the same time…

Always play it hitting Panorama Ave even on the way to work….
Excitement dies down when i see the mount empty though.

Oh yes, the old Pretender by foo fighters…… i recomend only having this down low, cos today on my lunch break i managed to loose 3 points and a $150 fine by having this song blaring.
So very not cool, expensive way to go see my sister for lunch.

I reckon “danger zone” is pretty good, although its more jets it can still work for the v8s lol. And anything good charlotte is pretty awesome I loved it when they played them all throughout the v8s last year. I agree “pretender” is a pretty awesome song!!

For some reason, I’ve always associated “All Fired Up” by Pat Benetar with motorsport - so on the last part of the journey to the track, it’s usually that or “Playing to Win”.

And the song that was on the Honda ad a few years back - with the samples of the F1 car? Haven’t a clue what it was called.
