Bargs all the way, I wouldn't look anywhere else he showed at Bathurst he is still super quick, he has blitzed the Minni class where all cars are identical so you are relying on driver skill & Bargs has been the stand out driver. Probably coz he is so small he doesn't whey the car down too much, but seriously he is a driver that has got a tone of experience & he is such a top bloke he would help morale in any team & would be just great for Shane.

With Jeld-Wen gone, SBR have two choices, really...

a.) Jump back into the sponsorship jungle and try and recruit a new naming rights sponsor. This in all probablity will only occur on the pretext of a 'name' driver being in the #4 seat.

The advantage that SBR have in this area is they will be propped up, funding wise, by Ford so their 'major sponsor' pricetag may not be as much as say, a competing Ford team. DJR for example.

Even so, given the economy at present, landing a sponsor worth around $1.5 mil aint going to be an easy task - especially with the season commencing in March...and no round wins so far this year- and no driver.

or b.) Grab a pay driver and hope he does a decent job. Mr Patrizi would be in the mix in the sceanrio one would think given his alledged budget that travels with him. If Mr Owen could jag some tint-a-car money, then that would be a very very nice little match.

Unfortuntely, Motor racing consumes money faster than most women (That is pretty damn fast !!!). Pay drivers are a nature of the sport, but it is fast becoming dominant. The only way to curb it is to reduce the running and build costs of the cars.... it is very simple really....

Unfortunately Mac, the driver paying system runs much deeper than just Patrizi and V8 Supercars. Patrizi is just one example in the supercars. If you go F3, there are teams there which purely provide a drive for whoever wants to pay to drive over the weekend. I was chatting to one of the F3 drivers a couple of months ago and he said half the co-drivers at Bathurst would be there due to hefty bank accounts.

It sucks because all the talent is wasted, but thats the harsh reality of motor racing...

yeah, Bargs should come back in. I think paying for a drive like Patrizi does, should be baned out of the V8 Supercar Series. It gives people coming up through the ranks a less chance to make it big. Motorsport is expensive enough as it is, then we have guys like this ruining it for other people. Offering $1.5 million, where do people get there money from?
I would like to see, Luke Youlden, Warren Luff, Jason Bargwana or Simon Wills coem back, but I highly doubt Simon coming back, with the business he his running and all.

$1.5 million would probably be the only way Patritzi would end up at SBR. Interesting you should mention Josh Hunt there stormy.. Josh is a nice bloke and a pretty handy little steerer. Spent a bit of time with him when he was keeping his eye in up here in Queensland state competition a few years back.

What many people probably dont know is that Josh tested Russell Ingall's Falcon late in 2006 and acquitted himself very well. He is also very good friends with Jimmy Stone and some very influential people in America. Josh was trying to get into the Fujitsu series, but finance halted his plans. SBR could do a lot worse, but as good as Josh is it would take him at least a year to get right up to speed.

There would be no shortage of punters lining up for the gig !

Has anybody considered the possibility of someone totally different in James' old seat??. What about Michael Patrizzi, who is walking around offering $1.5m per season for a drive... Or even somebody who has raced overseas, like Josh Hunt... Many possibilities. But i can 100% guarantee you it isn't Will in the seat at SBR next year!!

V8$A have made noises about the possible release of the Walden franchise to the market in which there could be your 3rd FPR seat....

It would be a real shame if DJR lose Will, after all Dick gave Will his chance and I think a little loyalty would go along way. After all a DJR Falcon is just as good as an SBR one at the moment... particularly if Jeld-Wen disappear with the dancing one....

Steve Owen is pretty much already the Fujitsu-champ elect for 2008 and throughly deserves a main game seat. Weither he has the profile commercially to lead SBR is questionable. DJR will move heaven and earth to try and keep Will, and why blame them - he is laying the golden eggs at the moment.

As long as the 2 Vodafone FG's are at the front I will be happy.

Okay, Here it is, from Motorsport E News:
Courtney to FPR but in 09' they are going to be called Ford Dealer Team and running 3 cars.
The 3rd licence will be run off the Ford Rising Stars team, which is based in with FPR in Melbourne.

Now I think this is wrong because Ford are going on about how they are broke, so they remove sponsorship for all of the teams except FPR and SBR then turn FPR in to a 3 car team. This was leaked in the same week as the sponsorship being takes away was. It was ment to be told in October, so probbly on the Bathurst weekend. In other words Ford are trying to cheat all the teams out of there funds for the Ford Dealer Team and Stone Brothers Racing

They are just my thoughts, other people will have diffrent, just the way i kind of worked it out. I have been an avid Ford fan all my life, and this year have started to be a 1 driver fan, now I have heard about this, it has locked in my thoughts about who I want to follow. "Craig Lowndes".

Like donna, I'm going to be waiting to hear from the horse's mouth before I get too excited. After all, it is the same people that have leaked him going to FPR that said he's going to Holden (and we all know that's not true)...so who knows until they officially announce it....It would be my 'dream team' though if he were to go to FPR...

SBR seat is very much still up for grabs. Will won't be in it... He's set to stay at DJR although not signed yet. Michael Patrizzi would be a chance of the SBR drive as he is offering $1.5m per year and wants a 3 year deal!!!!
