The Olympics

Ok so we know that the Olympics are coming up, but who is actually looking forward to them. Who's gearing up to cheer on the green and gold and who's reaching for the 10 dvds for 10 bucks special at the local video store?

Personally i am not really into them and i am quite over the 'ready to fly olympic song, having said that i am looking forward to watching the diving and do appreciate how much work everyone (the athletes and trainers/teams, olympic officals, all the volunteers, and everyone involved) puts into them.

So are you looking forward to the Olympics and if so which events are your favs and if you not a huge fan what are you planning to do while they are on?

I love the Olympics! I get right into it and watch as many events as I can on TV. My favourite events are swimming, cycling, athletics, volleyball and triathlon. Bring it on! :D

I work at Westpac in NZ and we are sponsors of our NZ Team at the olymics so we should be getting coverage to watch while we work.

I enjoy watching any event really but my favourite event is the double skulls rowing because our evers-swindell twins are awesome they will take the gold!! :)

I think I might boycott it… just like I boycotted Big Brother this year!!

I generally don’t watch tv… but then again I do like the gymnastics and equestrian - so providing they show them - I may just flick the tele on.

I have no idea - but are Roy & HG doing anything this year? They rock my Olympic world :P

I can’t wait for the Olympics… Even if V8’s aren’t on this is enough to cover that gap for me.
Also love the swimming cause I swim, and also cause my mate Tom almost made the Olympic Team this year for swimming, and is looking good for an aussie team sometime in the future!!!!

I’m not excited about the olympics. In saying that, I find myself watching from time to time, just to see how us Aussies are going.

I’m not really too fussed on the Olympics. After being raised in Tibbet we receive a lot of bad publicity on the TV. It is clear that if America can’t have the Olympics then no one should have them !……. just kidding hopefully Aussies win lots of gold!

I don’t go out of my way to watch much but this year I will be watching the rowing. One of our candidates Mark Bellofiore is on the team so I will be cheering him on.
Other than that mostly the swimming and gymnastics although it will probably depend on what is on when I turn the telly on.

Not too fussed about the olympics. Is this un-Australian of me?? I don’t like that all the news telecasts will give too much time to the olympics when there are more important things happening in the world. Gee I sound negative….I’m missing the V8’s already and we still have Winton to go.

The Olympics is based on money and greed. And China is the worst country to host it. If you haven’t done your research then you will know that their animal and human rights are a joke. I’d also rather not be walking around in smog thanks.

The Olympics are the greatest display of Human Performance on the earth. It may be a very naive view that there are not any drug cheats, but there is no other performance of man’s energy, strength and endurance than the Olympics.
They only come every 4 years and we need to enjoy them while we can. Sure there is no V8 Supercars over this time period, but we get the best sporting spectacle of the modern and ancient worlds to replace it.
There is no point sitting back and complaining about it, we should embrace it and get passionate because we are one of the proudest sporting nations in the world.
You don’t want to NOT watch it as a protest about V8’s not being on, and then rue your missed opportunities when it comes to seeing some of the best sporting moments in history.

Personally can’t wait for all of the swimming, the rowing and of course the bike racing….AND the walking!!!

Get in there and enjoy it!
