Hi Jamie,
Firstly, Congratulations to yourself, Craig and the whole Triple8 crew for a fantastic result on the weekend.
Was just wondering what your take was on the touch Craig and Greg had on the first lap. It seems strange to me that he didn't show signs a problem until lap 4, which could have been a mistake made all on his own. If Greg really had damage to the steering, would he have been able to continue on like he did between lap 1 -4 and not loose any positions. The ch7 commentators reported Sprint Gas were going to replace the part, but obviously they didn't and their car was still more than competitive during the race.
Good luck for Indy and also the championship.
Michelle

Still, they got 2nd. And they shouldn’t be complaining about much. Murph saying that he could have won the race if they didn’t have the incident, I see as highly unlikely.

All the incident did was give Tasman an excuse to run 2nd….

At the track the comentators said the Murph had a Tyre problem like the other cars and not from hitting Lowndes.

Jase’s blog isn’t very supportive of CL’s actions during the first lap….

That’s Jase for you Casey, he just has to have a say…….
The first lap, and more so, the first few corners, at Bathurst are always tight, so a bit of bump is expected (although best avoided). I haven’t had the chance to review the ‘incident’, as my copy of the race is still forth-coming (CARO!!!!! Where are you !!!!!!!
)
But as has been seen time and time again, when 2 pieces of 1350+ Kg of speeding machinery come together, something has to give. Did something give in the Murph-mobile? Or did they pick up some of that dodgy edging that plagued most of the field and ended up with tyre delam/sidewall damage?
Murph races hard, always has, and it sometimes pays off. But, (and this is my opinion), he doesn’t know when to lift for a fraction to concede a place and continue to fight/apply pressure. (Murph Vs. Marcos ‘04)
For mine, Jase has the same bad habit, but worse. He’s in a bloody good car, has pace, but thinks that that gives him Carte Blanche to do whatever he feels like.
Sorry Jase, you just don’t get it.
As the old adage goes, “To finish first, first, you must finish”.
And I ain’t seen no wins yet……

What was stopping Murph from lifting his foot and allowing Craig some room ???
Answer: Nothing.

Greg Murphy didnt want the boys to win again, he tried to get them into trouble. I believe Sprint Gas Racing is a joke and very un-professional. Look at the language coming from hat car aswell.

Tasman have put out another press release on the V8 site on the incident.
The officials deemed it a racing incident, so play on….
Let it go Murph, and get on with racing this weekend….
