Yeah it was a real shame that Craig and James had the crash today (Sunday) coz it also took out another top running Ford in Mark Winnterbottom. I am not really sure who was at fault maybe James should’ve given Craig some room after he got so far up the inside but on the other hand it might’ve been a bit aggressive on Lowndesys part. The downside is it took out 3 top running Fords, just as well Jamie was able to hang onto the lead and win todays race to come away with the points but it would’ve been real nice to see the other Fords up there on the points table as well. Oh well just as well its the first race of the year and plenty more to go for C/L & Frosty to get back some ground.
But well dome Jamie.
Dasha.

My first thought was “courtney was well up into Craigs B pillar, so Craig should have conceeded”, but another angle looked like Courtney was struggling to even get the car to turn in. i’d dearly love to see it from above, because both angles i saw didn’t really give you a good indication of whether loundes turned in too early, or he had no choice and had to take that line.

Poor Frosty though. bet he’ll be having 888 nightmares for a while. wonder who his mobile contract is with :D

From the looks of it James was having a problem turning, and just went straight taking Craig out with him then Frosty, real shame. :(

But Jamie kept strong and won :D

This one is a difficult one to judge as craig looked like he was using his elbows a lot today and pushing very aggressively through the field and looked like he turned in on james. But then on the flipside if craig had the stronger car it might have been worthwhile for James to give him a bit more racing room. Hard to call everyone will have their own versions which they will believe is right so i just think its one of those very unfortunate incidents. gave frosty more reason to be annoyed with triple eight though. Although I really dont see what he had to complain about in regards to saturdays race.

Seriously guys if your gonna take out anyone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make it holdens! Ive watched the footage lots of times and each view looks different but the result is still the same- From a Possible Ford 1234 finish to well- Ford Holden Holden. But glad to see them all out of the cars and OK

I feel awful for Frosty. He was the innocent party in it all - I was at the race but I didn’t get to see any decent footage to determine anything as to who caused the Lowndes/Courtney incident. All I saw was that Frosty didn’t get what he deserved at all.

But aside from that, huge conratulations Jamie on your pole and double win over the weekend!! Was fantastic to watch!!

Driving standards.. tough one to rule on in a way that is going to be consistant and black and white. One of the main issues i saw on the weekend, was the guys that were under attack ( WInterbottom and Courtney in particular) mostly at Turn 9 (The Hairpin) driving ‘diagonals’ across the road to the apex to block a pass.

Sure Craig and Jamie were being aggresive in trying to make a pass stick, but by the same tokin, the level of blocking was just as aggresive. Winterbottom almost pushed Craig into the inside wall when craig was 3/4’s alongside (ie: had the overlap) and yet Winterbottom continued to squeeze to the point where the pair of them overshot on the dirty side of the road.

I might be a bit one eyed towards the silver and reds, but if the blocking is over the top, then a rattle on the bumper is fair play I reckon…

For the CL/Courtney bingle, Craig again had the overlap, and Courtney’s car was suspect (ie: possible deflating tyre). It was obvious the Craig had pace on James, but all James had to do was give Craig a bit of space and the two could have continued the race to the end. Instead 3 of the Top 4 Ford’s are taken out in one incident.

Has anyone found out the judgement on what happened after the big crash. Will anyone face any fines or anything? Or do we have to wait For V8 Xtra or Auto Action?

Margaret Inness

I doubt either of them will be penalised. If it was Holden V Ford them possibly action would be taken but I doubt anything will be done.

Personally I think Courtney is becoming like Ambrose and thinking he owns the circuts. From the footage i have seen over and over again (I have it recorded) Craig was far enough up on Courtney and Courtney pushed him off. Shame about poor Mark Winterbottom though, he was an innocent bystander.

Well done to Jaime though. It is your year this year.

It was just a HUGE shame that 3 FORD’s went out :(
Gotta wonder if Lowndes needs Cambell Little still to talk to him and keep him calm like he has done so well in the past.
Well done Jamie though!!!

I dont think he needs anyone to clam down but JC and Frosty do!!

I thought their interveiws were really harsh yesterday!!

Alicia Chenoweth

Alicia Chenoweth 9:37 pm February 25th 2008

But could you really blame them for being a bit frustrated? Especially Frosty, he was going heaps well and then he just gets taken out - it would have been devastating! Both JC and Craig thought that they were right - it seems more a problem of race rules rather than someone’s fault. They would be frustrated too - Craig took a jab at James as well.. so all 3 were upset!! To be 2nd, 3rd and 4th and then crashed… it would have been disappointing and frustrating especially after their teams had worked so hard to get amazing cars ready for this race…

I’m just glad that Jamie didn’t get taken out as well!! At least we had one guy to continue on the ford dream! Congrats Jamie for an excellent drive!

Tough call, I have just watched the replay and we don’t have the right camera angle to really know. At the end of the day they are both in the wrong because they both ended up in the wall. But who was most to blame is the tough call.

If James was close to the wall on the left, well then Craig came across and took him out. If James wasn’t close to the wall then he didn’t give Craig room so it’s his fault.

It was the kind of race that kept me on the edge of my chair, and my heart nearly in my throat. Poor Craig and the boys who got he’s car going so well. Hopefully at Eastern Creek we will see Jamie number 1 and Craig a close second.

That’s what I was disappointed about. It was looking like a Vodafone 1 - 2.

As a racer though and ot a team player, would you rather see a lot of your rivals not finish a race so that you get a point buffer, or would you like a close fight?

Margaret Inness

Margaret Inness 7:43 am February 27th 2008

Close racing is better. It keeps everyone on the edge of their seats including the drivers. Look at last year. How close was it? It went right down to the wire and it was down to the best two drivers of the season.
This year will be the same.

As for the crash though, I still think James was at fault. His comments afterwards were just as bad as what Kim Jones has said in the past. Frosty had every right to be upset.

Officials need to be consistent and start cracking down. This has been an issue through the last few years. They seem to only penalise certain drivers and from both teams. It seams the same drivers get pinned everytime either that or its the same drivers making the same mistakes all the time.

I do worry about Campbell not being there and the effect that will have on Craig. Jaime I think you need to be his calming influence now.
