I’m not into marketing but I think that some motorsport sponsors could score more sales etc if they made more use of their drivers on TV ads??

Unfortunately, I am stuck in SA where everything revolves around AFL except on Clipsal weekend….I don’t follow AFL and I certainly get sick of ex and current players trying to sell us crap. Bring on the driver’s to promote their products…even the Holden drivers!

Nah…………Ive been there almost every year inluding back in the Mobil 500 days plus Ive need to keep on top of a small issue we have with another athlete in the US over the next few days. Spoken to Winners a couple of times each day and he sounds absolutely pumped so Im calm enough at this point.

Its a good. but Bathurst is a TEAM effort. When we bought picture from the win in 06 it only has CL signature. It really upsets me. both drivers are responable for the win.

Agreed Rodney…………if you remember in 06 in was JW that actually did all the hard work late in the race!!

Yeah that really annoyed me about the bathurst 06 win, I love CL, but JW did make the winning move of the race!! So a little more credit would not of gone astray! JW had such a great race but hardly ever heard his name - most of the news stories was about how CL one bathurst! Its like it takes two to tango peoples!

Give Jamie a go or both CL and JW and make them meet at the end or something seems to limited when you only have one driver on it especially when there is two drivers counting for one result in one car!!

Hey Jamie did some fantastic work last year as well … He now holds the race lap record and made and amazining pass ( not going to mention the slight stuff up coming into pit lane … i crap i just did ) but its a team thing ……..:D

Dont get me wrong the add is fantastic and I get goosebumps watching and the heart rate increases! But its definitely a team thing and it would be great to see both the boys running along the track or something! Especially seems they are both the defending champs of two consecutive wins! And yes doe jamie was great last year two (except for the thing we arent going to mention “cough pitlane cough” sorry jamie.

This commercial is what is known as a ‘teaser’…

Obviously the aim is to show it is an ‘endurance’ and that it has personal meaning… it’s not just the whole race… or the team that makes the difference - but the personal effort as well. What’s the point in having the personal meaning when there are 2 people in it? It is more effective with just one…

Not many people knew who JW was in 06 so obviously CL was going to get more of the glory at the time- it’s just how it happened to work out. Jamie is yet to make his mark on V8’s (not to say he hasn’t… but not the impact that Craig has at this stage) and so Craig is entitled to this commercial… I’m sorry - but I’m not about to diss CL just because JW was left out of an ad that he didn’t really need to be in.

I’m sure as the event gets closer other drivers will have their own commercials too! Stop getting so precious people

I recall that when people talk about Peter Brock they say ‘9 times Bathurst winner… Peter Brock’ they don’t say… ‘9 times Bathurst winner… Peter Brock who drove with Jim Richards at the time…’ (etc)

And… speaking of which - 06 WAS Craig’s year because of Brocky - so of course it was going to be a bigger thing for him than JW.

Ok. Sorry But Craig is awesome and I know this is JW’s site… and maybe I shouldn’t have put it up here then - but I am a Team Vodafone fan and I was a CL fan first… and I just thought you’d be interested. I didn’t want it to be a ‘where’s JW’ rant… more of a ‘where’s JW’s ad’ rant…

I appreciate you explaining what the media are about and the concept behind the production. I do need to argue with you though…… Motorsport is more of a team effort that any other sport and the fact is that 80% of the job is done before you get to the track. The racing is only a small portion of the job.

And although you may think that 2006 was Craig year because of PB(bear in mind that there were alot of people hurting because of Peter’s passing) , Jamie made the race winning move.

Bathurst is 50/50 driverwise.
