or for those of you currently attending a school is it private or public and do you like it there.
or in you past what did you attend. wat r the benefits and negatives of that type of skool.
i currently attend a public skool and and have never been to a private.
im just curious as to which one is better???!!!

I went to Private in primary and public late secondary because we moved. Had the option of private for the rest of high school but chose not to. Its a tough question because I personally think it all comes down to the teachers regardless of what type of school. A good teacher has good students most of the time because the kids actually dont mind being in the room with them. I think I will try and send my kids to private at least for a bit, but hey I think Im a long way off having kids.

i’d send my kids to private. i went to private through primary and high school and tried public for college.
having to go to private during high school was great. it was strict, but i enjoyed it.
i decided to go to a public college and experience the enviroment. goin to a public school gives you freedom and they dont really care whether you hand in assigments and things. i found that goin to a public college gave me motivation to complete everything and do really well. as you have freedom of study and you dont have to do religion which is compulsory in private schools lol.
it’s pretty much a decision to make for yourself. but goin to a private school during primary and high school and then public during college, is a good idea.

A school that stops kids writng messages in “txt” or “msn” language would be good!
I have no idea what the hell they are saying sometimes. hahaha

I like private schools coz I feel safe in them. In my whole lifetime I’ve only attended a public school for 2 years but all the rest - private schools….

After finding out that the Queensland Government is currently posting personal details, contact details, photographs, students results, behaviour, attendance, off-campus activities, parental contact and life aims of every child (from Prep to Grade 12) online, private schools or home schooling would be my preference.

Scary when you consider 4 teachers were recently arrested in connection with an international child porn ring. ‘OneSchool’ is a pedophiles dream. I wonder how long it will be before it’s hacked and the information falls into the hands of predators. And here’s the kicker: “Education Minister Rod Welford has warned the state-wide rollout of the OneSchool database is “non-negotiable” and students could be refused an education if they don’t divulge required information.”

I would like Rod Welford and all public school headmasters and staff to post their personal details on the site as well… see how comfortable and secure they feel!

(Bit of a rant I know… but I strongly disagree with what the Queensland Government are doing!)

I initially sent my son to a private school and he hated it !!!
I have since switched him to the local high school and he loves it !!!!
Honestly thought I was doing the right thing, however how wrong was I
I think it’s up to the individual and as parents we mean well, we don’t always get it right !

My son started kindergarten this year and I put him in a public school. We live 2 mins away and it is the best school in the area with things like interactive whiteboards, air conditioning throughout and a room set up for video conferencing ready to have lessons for bright students over the air waves, in a class of students like themselves.

I went to public throughout my schooling and my ex went to private for high school. I did well in school and loved it while he was in detention more often than not and hated school. I think it depends on the school and the child as to what environment is best for them.

I personally went to a public primary school and a private high school. I hated my high school. The academics and that were first rate, but eveyone was so snobby and up themselves.

My daughter goes to a public primary school which she loves and which i love. I’ll be sending her to a public high school as I don’t want her to put up with what I put up with in high school. Absolutely nothing wrong with the public sector.

i went to a public primary school and private high school. I think it’s important to interact with the other sex at some point….i think primary is the better option only because i have some girlfriends that went to a public high school and all of their time/concentration went into making themselves look pretty in front of the boys and also not appearing to be smart!!!

there was a comment before about all private schools and religion - this depends on the school. not all have a religious background you just have to do some investigating to find what suits you best.

I agree with Renay its what you make of it. i went to a public primary and high school, i have a great job and dont feel that i missed out on anything. My son attends a public school which is the only brand new school in this region it has state of art facitilies envornmentally friendly etc. it is also an eco school so kids have a garden learn and actively take part in water management, and energy management. we have a brand new high school currently under construction also. which will be complete by the time my son and daughter attend.

I work for a job network and have dealt with people from all walks of life with various conditions, injuries, dependancies etc it really doesnt matter what school you attend it really is what you as an individual take from that opportunity and what you choose to do with it.

I find the only advantage of being at a private school is there are more support networks. By this I mean we have tutoring sessions in the morning and afternoons. I also enjoy the sports aspect of the school. I have had the opportunities to do things such as Rifle Shooting and Water polo and stuff. It is also a great atmosphere at school footy with all my mates and stuff.

But it does not suit everyone. The guidelines of private schools and the various obligations throughout the year do not appeal to some people.
So it depends on what people want to do, as public and private schools help in developing different aspects of a person, whether it be social, academic - and like has always been said by others, whatever your circumstances you have to make the most of it and take all your opportunities.
Personally I really enjoy being at a private school!

i go to a private skool and i agree with Muz, the sport at my school is awsome. I have never been to a public school so i don’t know what that is like. I really like my school…..the acedemic side is pretty good too.

heyya i went to a private skool from grade one to twelve and absolutely loved it!!! I just think that the teachers have heaps more time for the students. and they actually care if u arent doing well cause its them that gets in trouble if you arent passing!!!! Plus most of the kids are there for one reason unlike public skools. I found that i was so protected at a private skool from everything!!! I also found there are heaps more opportunities at the skool like with subject and sports- especially with the ‘elite’ private skools like nudgee in brissie!!! Anyho i guess im a bit biased with my judgement cause i didnt know any different!!!

I go to a public school and it’s pretty good. I think there is probably more freedom in public schools and the dress code isn’t as strict. I heard about a private school somewhere who’s “hands off” policy was so strict two girls got detention for shaking hands.
