– NEWS FLASH
AUSSIE driver Will Power is to stand in for
Helio Castroneves in Team Penske’s
IndyCar team – partnering Ryan Briscoe
– while the Brazilian’s Tax Evasion court
case takes place.
A formal announcement from Team
Penske is expected overnight (4am
Australian time), although team president
Tim Cindric has informally confirmed the
arrangement.
Castroneves’ court case (scheduled
for March) could last a week, or some
months. While it is relatively clear what
Power’s position will be if Castroneves
is unable to return to the team, what
happens if the verdict is ‘Not Guilty’ and
the Brazilian returns to race is unclear
– although it is being suggested that
Power would remain, in a testing role,
possibly racing a third car on occasions.
The news also confirms that Power’s
relationship with Team Australia (KV
Racing) has come to its end.

Would have been better if they teamed up at Team Oz but it’s still good.

I think you will find it will be renamed back to KV Racing, i guess it all comes down to if Gore still wants to give them money or not?

That is great news for Will, however at the same time I am a little dissappointed that he does need to stand in for Helio. I was hoping that this year Team Penske would have Briscoe and Castroeneves really pushing for the title, it was looking like a good three way battle between them and Dixon. But with Helio definitely not running all races he is out…hope Ryan does it…and good luck to Will also.

It would JP but all depends on if Craig Gore is still going to be paying the bills?
I think Power will be a real theat for the title this year, lets hope we end upo having a Aussie 1-2 and a Kiwi 3rd that would piss the yanks off wouldnt it?
All that has to be said is go the PENSKE boyz, and shame we wont see them at the Gold Coast, would have been one hell of a good party hey……………………………………

Not sure that Power will be able to get the title, he seemed to struggle a little coming to terms with the ovals, but hopefully he can master them this year.
