Well what can I say, I left home 11 days ago knowing this trip would play a major role in this year’s Championship. I couldn’t be happier, or prouder, of my Team for winning 3 out of the 4 races, and 4 out of the last 5 to setup what I believe is our Championship to now win or lose.
This weekend has secured such success, TeamVodafone won the Team’s Championship and is now guaranteed first and second in the Driver’s Championship. I have grabbed the most pole positions for the year on 9, and Dutto my Head Engineer celebrated his 50th race win yesterday which I am also very proud to be part of.
Regardless of our success, I can’t stress enough that this Championship is far from over. The most important thing right now is to try and recharge the batteries in the next few days before we start preparations for Homebush. We need to be smart and make sure we score enough points to secure the Driver’s Championship. If a TeamVodafone car can win the Telstra 500 it would round off an already fantastic season.
Sorry for the slow delivery time with the report. Straight after the race I juggled media, fans, family time and then had to pack up and travel to the airport to catch my flight home. I got to bed at 2am this morning and decided to have a little sleep in before a long pool session in the sun to try and straighten my body back out after a few thousand gear changes and brake applications.
No post race video this time but I will make up for it at Sydney. I hope everyone is enjoying the racing as much as I am and I look forward to updating you on our preparations for Sydney – 13 days to go!
