Now i dont know about everyone else but i think that its about time that FORD started funding PCR…We have seen over the past couple of rounds that they r starting 2 establish themselves as a racing team and r becoming quite competitive. Lets give this small team a helping hand ford. You hung them out to dry by themselves with a terrible offer so i think its about time you propose an offer 2 them that isnt rediculous. I dont want to lose another team to the general
Also if Ford started funding PCR, then they could start running a second competitive car giving struggling or up and coming drivers the chance 2 b successeful…what does everyone else think??

Great topic there Blake…
The rise in the stock of PCR this season as certainly coincided with the arrival of Triple Eight Chassis #11 to the workshop. But as BJR has proven, even though you have great kit, you still have to engineer and drive it to results.
Paul and his small team have done a terrific job and finally we are starting to see the sort of talent Fabian Coulthard has. I dont think a lot of people realise that the car John Bowe was driving last year was originally a Briggs Motorsport BA from 2003 - an ancient chassis that wasnt that flash to begin with.
I reckon Fabian and Alex Davison are the ABSOLUTE sleepers for a podium at Bathurst. Watch these guys up there in October. They have the potential to spring a very big surprise. I felt that even before the weekend just gone.
I think they will miss out on some Ford funding due to the cut-backs, but it would be great to see someone join Glenfords on the flanks of #111.
Further to that, it would be great to see AD join the squad in the 2nd car in 2009….

yes They should.

If jc went 2 that team then he would show alot of promise for the teams future…i think PCR need 2 try and hang on 2 fabian 4 the long term coz he is alwayz improving and he will b a future star of the sport..in my opinion anyway

Just remember that it aint PCR that have all the speed………it is the current spec T8 car with all the latest set up info.
With that car and a decent driver anybody could be that far up the grid.
Ford money, if anywhere besides T8 and FPR, should be at DJR supporting an iconic (and loyal) Ford team.
Darth Vader 6:48 pm June 13th 2008
yes indeed Matt,totally agree

The most impressive thing about PCR is that for a single car team, they are hovering around the top ten in the championship (I am aware of the T8 chassis etc.) but a year ago I had written Fabian Coulthard off, and put him on the no-hopers list with Paul Dumbrell…. at least 1 of those two has proven me wrong…
Matt Cousins 7:42 pm June 13th 2008
Well they are not really a single car team when they have the might of T8 behind them!
Coulthard is good…..you wouldnt do what he did in F Ford if you werent!
David Wood 9:37 pm June 13th 2008
Having the latest spec Triple 8 gear would be a great thing to have Matt…. certainly why PCR has vaulted up the order in 2008. It is good for a little team to do well, even if they are a surrogate 3rd T8 car.
Oh how I would love to drive a Triple 8 car !
David Wood 9:42 pm June 13th 2008
Oh and ditto the DJR comment. They are the longest serving Ford team in V8 supercars….and Dick has been fiercly loyal to Ford over the years, even if it meant having to race out-homologated equipment, such as the Group A Mustang.
I was flicking through an old mag from 1993 that covered the very first V8 (then 5-litre) Touring car round at Amaroo. Interesting that only 3 teams that lined up that day are still around today - DJR, HRT and Perkins Engineering - and only 2 drivers that started that day are still in the ‘main game’ today - Mark Skaife and Paul Morris.
How times change…

wasnt PCR’s old car chassis 7 or 8 from T8 (JBM) very old crap..
but yes as David has said PCR are basically a driving a T8 car good enough to be CL or JW’s spare car, anyday of the week!

Spot on (I think) Alias…
The PCR car from last year was Dean Canto’s Briggs BA from 2003…. She was an old nail that is for sure. It was actually Triple 8’s show car in 2004 (!!!!!), before being used by Adam Macrow for Howard Racing in the 2005 Development series before newer (T8) equipe arrived. Plenty of miles on that clock….
Certainly not the equipment pedigree you need to be competitive in the main game in 2008.
Matt Cousins 12:39 pm June 14th 2008
Yes it was old but it did recieve a fair update by T8 at the start of the 07 season.
TVF-888 3:39 pm June 14th 2008
any chassis touched by T8 has got to have some goodness in there

Last years pcr car was an ex SBR car, possibly ingalls 03 car. I had a look at it at EC had SBR all over the interior.
Matthew Spinazze 4:15 pm June 14th 2008
I remember Ford saying they were going to only sponsor ford teams if they start bringing in some decent results so going by that im sure ford will now be looking at pcr and giving them some support now.

why would PCR want to take Fords money next year when Ford was not prepared to back them this year, it would seem like a two faced act on Fords behalf, I think PCR should continue running Fords but stir the pot by possibly bringing in a Japanese manufacturer as a sponsor, then Ford would sit up and take notice
