On Friday, I was lucky enough to go to one of the driver signings at Bathurst and was able to ask Mr Whincup if the Monster helmet he wore was just a one off, or is it something that he is going to keep for good. He told me that he hadn't quite decided. (Craig then butted in and told me not to start a fight. HAHA!)
But then, Jamie asked both myself and Jessie-Car what we thought. I wasn't able to give him my answer as SOMEONE decided to call me right then and I wasn't able to answer him. *Glares at Casey*
Anyway, since I wasn't able to give him my answer on the day… here it is whether you want it or not, Jamie. LOL
Honestly… keep the blue one. It's very distinctive. I think because you have had it for so long and because it IS so distinctive, when people see it they know it's you. This black helmet… it's boring. I know that black is Monster's colours… but it's just… blah!!. It has no personality. Your blue one just stands out so much more…. and just looks so damn cool. 
So, since Jamie asked both Jess and I what we thought… I thought I might as well start a discussion here to see what you all think. You never know… we might be able to help Jamie make a decision.

Keep the blue one Jamie, as Lozza said you have had it so long and everyone recognises you with that helmet (lol maybe that is why he wanted to change colours??)
seriously though, that helmet has seen alot of race victories and a Championship for you so why change part of a winning formula?

It would be like CL changing his helmet design after all these years… yes it has had slight variations with colors etc (metallics & pearls)
Jamie, feel free to modify the theme on your helmet, but dont change it, black helmet just doesnt work (for me)
Maybe, keep the top of your helmet blue & then under the yellow & red stripes have it black or vice verse that way you can still have the monster logo/theme but i think you really need to keep the blue…

I agree the black is a little boring, you can’t really see the claw marks when your in the car so it just looks all plain black, no personality too plain, but each to their own.

I think it looks ok. Perhaps go back to your blue helmet for the rest of the year, as it has brought you alot of luck.
Then perhaps have a little change next year and you could add some colours of your car into it etc.
I suppose it is your decision and you will know what you like when you see it.

I like Jamie’s traditional helmet design. However, I also like the “monster’ one. I think anytime a sponsor supports the sport (in this case Jamie) it should be encouraged. If Monster support Jamie, then black helmet it is.

I agree with you David on the sponsorship side… but on Jamie’s blue one he had sponsorship everywhere on it… Von Zipper, Nokia, Oz Quest Homeloans… why can’t Monster have a small sticker on his helmet just like everyone else?

I think the black one was good, but personally prefer the blue helmet its more vibrant and has more personality. I thought I read somewhere, no idea where, that Jamie wouldn;t change his helment as his had the same design since his carting days and it incorporates his initals. I might be wrong, not sure.

Without having any knowledge of the nature of Jamie’s commercial arrangements, I am guessing that the sticker ’size’ would be relevant to contribution. But Ozquest, Komatsu, Malibu all should still have a presence regardless…
I know - i have just had a idea. How about we have a “Design Jamie’s helmet’ comp to incorporate all sponsors !

I like your idea Dave. But if we wanted to make it nice and simple, stick with the Blue design, and have a sponsor of the week taking prominent place on the helmet (that way all the sponsors get a chance to have their product on camera, and you can have as many sponsors as you like!!).

I think he should keep the old blue design, its always nice to see a drivers personal design on his helmut.
Valentino Rossi’s is an absolute cracker of a design & shows his personal side well, google it for those who havent seen it its well worth a look.
Jenson Buttons is another that I like, it incorporates the union jack flag!
I would hate to see yet another thing go out of the sport just to please sponsors, but increasingly thats the way of the world!

I like the blue helmet. Think that the black “Monster” should be kept for a certain round each year, much like the helmet that was used in Darwin, which I really liked too!

Keep the original design, but swap the blue and red parts of it for next year
