I am with you there kez, I love the eragon books, although I thought they butchered the first book with the movie. Not even close if you ask me. Currently reading eragon again in anticipation of brisingar (I think that’s how you spell it) can’t wait till the third book one comes out in sept. yay!
If you liked lord of the rings try reading The Hobbit, it’s an adventure Bilbo has before lord of the rings takes place. It involves the dragon which is commented about in the lotr movie (at his birthday party).
There is also another series which involves the bells that let you go into death but sadly I cannot remember the book titles but I am pretty sure it is written by Garth Nix.

I agree about the Eragon Movie the sure did butcher the book hate it when they do that to a good book. To bad have to wait till Sept for the next book. I will look for the other books you mentioned i need some thing to read as i’m nearly finished the one i’m on. I read the last Harry potter book in 1 day couldn’t put it down.

i waited about a week to ready hp7, i had to savor every detail.
I know what were they thinking with that movie……………. ‘Oh I got an idea let’s just loosely base the movie on the book cutting and pasting all the details and events’. I am still so distraught (ok maybe a slight over exaggeration – but I was pretty upset while watching it the first time) I don’t know if I am even prepared to see what they do to the next one.
There are three books in the series, one book is called abhorsen, but can’t remember the others. Sorry. I could find out tonight and then let you know tomorrow if you like.
But if you haven’t read The Hobbit, and you enjoyed lotr, I’d say give that one a go. They are talking about turning the hobbit into a movie and I totally support the idea but only if they have the same director. He worked wonder s with those movies and I just don’t think anyone else could pull that off.

They are already working on the Hobbit movie and Peter Jackson is doing it also there is going to be a LOTR movie based on when the ring was first made and the following war ( or so i’ve been told by a friend who worked on the first movies )

so what are these clan of the cave bear series. i have never heard of them.
Doe 12:32 pm May 8th 2008
Their about a girl called Ayla in the time of the ice age… Very good reading
Clan of the Cave Bear is the first book in the series and it starts when Ayla is about 5 yrs old …. Cant tell you to much because it gives it all away .. There was a movie made with Darryl Hanna in it but dont bother watching it because its crap .. it sticks to the book i bit but it makes the whole book seem crap which its not …. There are 5 books in the series so far with another two still to be written Jean M Auel spends a lot of time researching the books so thay are very accurate. I fell in love with the books after reading the first one

I got the Clan of the cave bear books when i was a teenager and have read them many times i can’t wait for the next ones either. I also have all the LOTR movies and HP movies to date. Should be good if they make the Hobbit into a movie i will definately be looking for that book now thanks. You will have to get clan of cave bear book and read it Katie you will enjoy it. I love the second book Valley of the horses. I have watched the movie with Darryl Hanna in it and didn’t think much of it. Nothing compares to a book.
Have you read any Stephen King Books - Pet Cemerty, Misery, IT they were all made into movies there is another on they did recently can’t think of the name at mo. the only one that went close to the book is IT.

I also have read Flowers in the Attic series they were a good series. The author of them wrote many more series also. They all seemed to follow the same sort of story lines. Also like Dean Koontz.

Well since you haven’t told me much but emphasized how good it is I will have to get them and read them. Is Jean M Auer the author? When did they come out? I am a huge movie lover and book lover; I have the LOTR movies and HP movies as well as the books to them both. The recent Stephen King book they did into a movie was 1408, just watched it last weekend. It is a good movie although I haven’t read the book; I think John Cusack played a good part.
Thanks ladies, this is great I was wondering what I was going to go onto next (book series wise) and now I have one. Although they will have to wait until I have finished Eragon and book number 2 (forgot the name - sorry mr paolini) and brisingr

I read pretty much anything I can get my hands on. It all depends on what mood I am in as to what I like to read.
Chick Lit - Maeve Binchy and Monica McInerny are my fav authors. Both have a few good books
Crime - Love the Tempe Brennan (bones) books although I hate the new show. It is so unlike the books even though the author is involved with the program
Fantasy - Just finished the Tale of the Mirror series written by Ian Irvine I think. That was quite good. Another series follows on and although it is quite different (set about 150 years later) it is good in its own right.
Also loved the above series’ Eragon, HP and LOTR.

Dan Browns books are great and as for fantasy i love Raymond E Fiest and David Eddings books
Tinks 3:55 pm May 8th 2008
Oh Doe, I couldn’t agree with you more! The Clan of the Cave Bear (Earths Children) series is one of my favourites! Those books have pride of place at the top of my bookshelf! My hubby bought home the DVD of the movie but I refused to watch it. I knew it would ruin the picture I had of everything in my head so I took it straight back to the DVD shop. They are the most beautifully written books. Absolutely amazing story line. I’m eagerly awaiting the next one as well. It’s been too long since the last one!
I also love Patricia Cornwell’s ‘Scarpetta’ series and Dan Brown’s books.
