On Friday night, one of my closest friends was hit by a car and left for dead. She is in hospital in an induced coma with a broken pelvis and has had part of her skull removed to relieve swelling on her brain. Police are still searching for the driver.
Has anybody had an experience where other drivers behaviour has escallated out of control. or has been involved in an unprovoked attack while on the road?
If you want to read the article, type 'girl hit and run in dawesville' in google.

That’s so sad, I’m really sorry to hear about your friend and my heart goes out to the other 2 girls who were there and all friends and relatives of the three. I just googled it and read the story. At first I thought it might have been a drunk driver but the story said he turned off all the lights on the 4WD and then crossed to the other side of the road to hit them which sounds deliberate. I hope that police did catch the guy responsible and he is severely dealt with. Lock him up and throw away the key. The punishment would still never be enough though.
I really hope your friend pulls through Steph. Is the community rallying together to help out her family? The poor girls parents must be an absolute mess. I can’t begin to imagine what a nightmare this must be for them. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I am soo sorry to hear that Steph. i havent experience anything that bad, however i was driving to melbourne on saturday in the heavy rains we have had, now we havent had a decent rain in months so the roads were so slippery and really it was only safe to 80km and still that was pushing it. The amount of people that were flying past was unreal there were huge puddles of water on the road that were making cars slide around but still there are some idiots that are in such a hurry that they put others lives at risk

I have heard through friends that Steph (yeah we share the same name) will probably have memory loss, i hope that will be all.
Something spooky, the last time I saw her was on Friday morning at school, she said to me ‘I was never here’ because she was going to wag with Jess and Ella (the girls she was with when she got hit).
Police had taken a man suspected of driving the 4WD into questioning but realesed him without charge because the forensics hadnt done DNA tests on the car yet, I think that will be happening today.
I will keep you all posted on her condition

So sorry to hear about your friend Steph. I was born and raised in Rockingham before I moved over here to Melbourne a few years back. The Rocko/Mandurah stretch is such a beautiful part of WA and it is a young developing region. Because of that, there are a large number of young families and teenagers…and usually wherever you get large number of teenagers, you get a few who for some reason think it’s cool to speed through a packed Forum carpark or just drink alochol and hoon around in general which can sometimes escalate out of control. I’m not saying it was teenagers in this case and I know they get blamed for a lot they don’t do…but they do get out of control occasionally.
One of my close friends got hit by a car on high school orientation day…right out the front of the school while crossing a manned crosswalk. Luckily for her she pulled through but now has a severe limp to remind her! The driver was a 17yo who when questioned said that yes he saw her but didn’t stop because he wanted to see what would happen!
Fingers crossed all is ok with your friend, it must be a really tough time for everyone involved. *Hugs*

Hey Steph
It’s amazing how people behave when they get behind the wheel. Your friend is just an innocent victim of the morons that infest our roads at the moment. My thoughts and prayers are with her.
In my old job, I was often the first response to car crashes.
The one I remember most was a young girl who was in a serious bike accident.
She had severe injuries, the most being a ruptured femoral artery. I held on to her what was left of her leg with both hands trying to stop the bleeding, but she bled out and died in my arms.
All this road rage stuff just sickens me because i’ve seen what a car can do.
Hang in there mate…you take care.
