I just read in Auto Action that JC is going to stay at Ford. Not with SBR. But maybe at FPR or T8. The suggestion it that one team will run a third car.
Whats your thoughts?
Would Vodafone sponsor a third car.
Do we want him at FPR ar T8?
Courtney to stay blue

Perhaps JC in a third 888 car is the reason for their move to a bigger premisis….

If he goes to 888 his car can be number 8!! lol
Maid Marion 8:35 pm June 6th 2008
He’d have to pick his game up if he was to go to 888. He is improving though - gotta give him that. He just needs to focus. He’s a nice guy - he’d fit in well with CL and JW in that regard. But he really has to prove himself… which he might be starting to do.

with teams told to cut cost over the next couple of years i would’nt think teams will be adding a third car to add to there costs

There is alot of pressure on T8 anf FPR both though supposoably to have a 3rd car. . . hence the extra ford money to them.

This was an interesting read…. obviously negotations with HRT fell over
To me it is interesting that CL and Courtney will be the only drivers to be directly contracted to Ford in 2009. Now, i maybe a little biased, but i would have thought that Ford would have contracted somebody who has actually WON a V8 Supercar race….
If I was at Ford I would make sure that i had some sort of commitment from my ‘new generation’ of stars. Whincup, Winterbottom and Will Davison for example. This is the future.
Now the question is, would JC be happy running a 3rd-string FPR or 888 Falcon. ??? Being an official Ford driver, FPR would be the logical choice. In an FPR Ford, there will be no more excuses if Frosty flogs him. Would Ford be better to direct the ‘3rd car’ funds to SBR to keep Courtney in a team were he is the undisputed #1, and also keep another Ford team in the hunt ? One that has been a very loyal and successful servant of Ford over the years….
Interesting times.

I too was suprised that only CL and JC are the only ford contracted drivers in 2009. I thought Jamie would of been snapped up pretty quickly by Ford. And also Frosty.
The rumours of a third car at either FPR and Triple 8 continue to fly around, but like everyone has said if each team has to cut 1 million dollars from their teams over the next few years, I cant honestly see them putting on another car, as that just defeats the purpose. Therefore there isnt too many options left for Courtney but to stay with SBR as a few people have suggested. Although I wonder if the relationship is too fractured to stay there with all the rumours that have been flying around with him unhappy and the HRT stories. I guess it all remains to be seen but will be interesting to see where he ends up

Running 3 cars would be an enormous exercise… my way of thinking it wouldnt cost 3 times as much as one car to run 3, as you would have some economies of scale that would allow savings.

As long as JC stays with the blue oval, I’ll be happy. I think he has improved a lot over the last couple of rounds. I’ve always been a fan.
Muz [JWCR Team Manager] 8:36 pm June 9th 2008
Well clearly he has a pretty decent future with the blue oval if they allowed him to debut the new FG. I am alos wondering if that million dollars that has to be cut from running costs is proportional to the number of cars that a team runs. So if it was $1 million per car, then FPR or 888 would still be cutting costs in proportion to the number of cars they would be running
Just a thought….

The only thing I can think of is that Steve Richards might be without a drive next year at FPR and they will slot J/C in at FPR.
But I think that would be way too harsh on Steve. Maybe he will just stay at SBR that would be the best thing.
Darth Vader 1:22 pm June 10th 2008
Steven Richards was signed to a five year deal with a big price tag to boot,so i don’t think he’ll be going

Well apparently (Due to Enews) Ford’s problems concerning Courtney are solved due to the advent of the ‘Ford Dealer Team’ - From the report he will be racing alongside Patrizi next season….
David Wood 2:41 pm June 10th 2008
That was an interesting story in enews. the ‘FDT’. I thought Ford was supposed to be scaling back on spending…..
Somehow i think in the wash-up of it all, Patrizi will not be there. For a new factory Ford team i think they will be after somebody with a higher profile to join the twinkle toed one. Patrizi will most likely find a home in the FRSR Fujistu team and become an enduro punter. Unless of course, if the FDT team needs a budget….
However, the rumour mill does suggest that whereever Courtney goes, Jeld-wen will follow. Leaving SBR in the lurch yet again. The SBR seat ? hopefully Bezzy gets the hook-up!
Blake 4:20 pm June 10th 2008
I think that a driver swap between fpr and sbr, richards & jc would b the perfect option. Steve would fit right in with the stones coz he raced with them b4, lets not 4get his bathurst win with them….as 4 the 3 car option, i think t8 or fpr would b able 2 do this but probably fpr more so…

There has been some speculation recently as to the future of one Jason Richards…. hmmmm…. could we see Racin’ Jason in Blue in 2009 ???
Muz [JWCR Team Manager] 7:00 pm June 10th 2008
I would have thought that Jason would want to see out the development at Tasman considering the work he’s put in with the team. Wouldn’t a move to a mooted ‘FDT’ mean that he is back at the start of a development stage almost?
Personally I would like to see this team ‘merged’ with Britek in a similar way that GSR was turned into FPR…
