Hey guys, a couple of us have recently been discussing Triple 8 history, and in particular the car histories of the Triple 8 chassis and wondering where they are now….. so I thought I would do some 'investigationing' and draw a brief history on all the Triple 8 built supercars before we lose track of them all. Our very own T8 'find my family' ![]()
Some of the comments are guesswork and many point need clarifying and confirming, so if anyone can add to what i have below - hook in… so..here they are. Enjoy guys !
When Triple 8 acquired Briggs Motorsport just before Sandown in 2003, Triple 8 'inherited' two BA Falcon chassis, JBMS 005 and 006. All following T8 built chassis from then on follow this numbering sequence.
JBMS 005:
Built new at the beginning of 2003, and used by Paul Radisich as Car #65 throughout 2003 in Betta Electricial colours. Car used by Radisich and Rickard Rydell at Bathurst in 2003.
After that was sold to Howard Motorsport, and after rolling through a few sets of drivers was used last year by Adam Sharpe (distinguished by it's yellow roll cage). Car was sold by Howard Racing in 2008 to Aaron McGill and car ran at the Bathurst Fujitsu support races by Aaron.
JBMS 006:
Sister car to 005, also built new at the beginning of 2003, and used by Dean Canto as Briggs #66 for 2003, also in Betta Electricial colours. Used by Canto and Matt White for the 2003 enduros.
Car then became Triple 8's show car for 2004, before being sold to Howard Racing and became Adam Macrow's mount for the 2005 Development series. Howard then sold the car to Paul Cruickshank, who refreshed it and it became the Glenfords Falcon in the main game in 2006, driven by Marcus Marshall. Joined by Jonathan Webb for the enduros and crashed at Bathurst and was sidelined for the rest of the season. (PCR leased an ex-Larkham BA from Charlie O'Brien to finish the year off)
Given a full 'birthday' by Triple 8 in the off season, and became John Bowe's car for 2007, and was used by JB all season and joined again by Webb in the enduros.
Reverted to PCR's spare BF before being sold to a New Zealand racer and the car currently competes in the NZ Enduro series.
T8 007:
First in-house Triple 8 built car designed by Ludo Lacriox, completed ready for the beginning of season 2004, and debuted by Paul Radisich at the AGP in 2004 and was Radisich's car for the 2004 season numbered 88. Car utilised by Dean Canto and Yvan Muller for enduros in 2004, when Radisich joined Max Wilson in chassis 008.
This car was then sold to Howard Racing and became Mark Howard's car for the 2005 season. Became Adam Macrow's 2006 mount, which dominated the Fujitsu series and won the title for Macrow in Betta electrical colours #27.
Car was then passed on to Andrew Thompson for 2007, and was fitted with a DJR sourced engine as Latitude developments car #71. This year the car is again competing in the Howard Stable, although currently not sure if it is Canto's or Reindler's car.
T8 008:
Sister car to 007, also built new for 2004 for Max Wilson - numbered #888. Debuted by Wilson at the AGP in 2004 and was his car for the season, joined by the rat for Sandown/Bathurst in this chassis where at Bathurst it was sidelined whilst in a good position with upright failure.
I believe this car was pressed into service in 2005 when Steve Ellery crashed #009 in Adelaide and took a few meetings to repair.
Sold to Howard Racing in 2006, and it became Mark Howard's personal ride - #37. Retained by Howard racing today, and is still Marks car I think. Either that or it is the Reindler car.
T8 009:
New BA Falcon built at the end of 2004 and was shook down by Craig Lowndes (on loan from FPR) prior to being handed to Max Wilson to use in the final two races of 2004 at Symmons Plains and Eastern Creek.
Then became Steve Ellery's car for 2005 and was almost written off on debut in Adelaide, taking a few rounds off to be repaired, replaced by chassis #008.
Used by Ellery throughout 2005 after repairs and was 3rd at Bathurst with Ellery driving with Adam Macrow.
Car was then refreshed and became Jamie's #88 in 2006 and carried Jamie to victory in his first race with Triple 8 in Adelaide. Used by Jamie up until Sandown, where Jamie joined CL in #010.
Car ran as #88 for the 2006 enduros by Alan Simonsen and Richard Lyons.
I believe this car was retained as a spare before being shifted to Team Kiwi for Kayne Scott to drive in the 2008 main game. Used by Scott all year, and failed in practice at Phillip Island and crashed heavily by Chris Pither at Bathurst.
Now repaired, is current TKR Falcon BF.
T8 010:
Triple 8's 'golden child'. Built for 2005 season and debuted by Craig Lowndes at the AGP - number #888. Used by Lowndes throughout 2005, including wins at Eastern Creek (Triple 8's first round win in V8's), Queensland raceway, Indy and the Sandown 500 where CL was joined by Yvan Muller.
Lowndes put car on pole at Bathurst and this was Triple 8's first Air-conditioned Supercar - the 'wheel through windscreen car'
Car continued on in Craig's hands in 2005 and 2006, and he was joined in it by Jamie for the enduros, finishing 3rd at Sandown and of course winning Triple 8's first Bathurst in 2006.
Became Jamie's car at Symmons Plains in 2006.
Remained Jamie's car for the rest of 2006 and 2007 (repainted in teamVodafone colours), which Jamie used to win in it at Winton, and paired with Craig to win at Sandown 500 2007. Replaced by Chassis #12 for Bathurst.
Car rested until emergency required it to be prepared for Craig to drive this year following the damaging of chassis #12a in Adelaide. Used by Craig at Eastern Creek and New Zealand before #12a was back for Darwin.
Chassis retained by T8. Will probably become a museum piece at T8 HQ.
Triple 8's most celebrated chassis to date and may not be raced again at the top level due to it's historical significance as the first Brock trophy winner. A collectors item and has a special place in T8 history.
T8 011:
Debuted after Bathurst in 2006 by Lowndes at Symmons Plains and became his new car, Raced the controversial Phillip Island grand final, punted by Rick Kelly. Remained Lowndes car in 2007 with Vodafone colours, upgraded to a BF from a BA spec.
Chassis reverted to #88 for the enduros, where it was driven splendidly by Simonsen and Lyons. Became #888 again after Bathurst and driven by CL for the rest of 2007 to 4th in the Championship.
Car was then refreshed with latest T8 gear and sold (with full data sheets) to Paul Cruickshank, and debuted in Glenfords colours by Fabian Coulthard at Adelaide in 2008. Used by Fabian all year, joined for enduros by Alex Davison.
Current PCR Glenfords Falcon BF #111.
T8 012:
The famous chassis 12. First turned wheel at Queensland Raceway in late September 2007 and race debuted brand new at Bathurst in 2007 by Craig and Jamie and driven to fantastic win. Remained Jamie's car (#88) for the rest of 2007, winning round at Symmons Plains and narrowly lost the title at Phillip Island.
Car then became Jamie's 2008 chassis, winning brillantly in Adelaide before nasty crash in New Zealand damaged car badly. Slowly rebuilt by Triple 8, and was used in the 2008 Enduros by Marc Hynes and Fabrizio Giovanardi.
Currently the T8 team's spare BF.
T8 012a:
Designated '12a' rather than it's correct numerical name chassis #13 for superstitious reasons. Built new for 2008 and debuted in Adelaide by Craig. Badly damaged in accident with Courtney and would not be seen again until Darwin.
Craig's current car.
Due to be sold to Sonic in 2009 for Fujitsu series.
T8 014:
The last of the BA/BF series Triple 8 chassis. Built up and completed with some haste to replace #012 for Jamie to debut at Barbagallo this year following #12's NZ accident. Retained by Jamie for remainder of this year, joined in this car by Craig for the enduros - 2nd at Phillip Island and became the Bathurst 'triple 8 triple treat' car.
Winning chassis on the weekend at Indy and is Jamie's current chassis and current championship leader.
Due to be sold to Sonic in 2009 for Fujitsu series.

That 4th should be 3rd

And John McIntyre(McIntyre at Phillip Island and Alex Davison at Bathurst due to Davison being in the UK for the Phillip Island round.)
These things are not that important but just sharing my knowledge

The TKR car (T8 009) is probably going to be the only BF around next year.

Where did u get all this information.

Hi Rodney, I am not sure if the car is leased or has been sold. I have read somewhere that Kayne Scott’s father actually owns the car now. Powers of deduction says that if Triple 8 owned the car, then they would not allow it to be butchered like it has such as fitting old WPS engines (which require a plumbing change) and the like. I am fairly sure it is T8 009, as 008 is with the Howards.
Most of the early histories of the cars have come from various motoring publications, the latter stuff is a little bit educated guess and from what i have worked out from info on the net, forums etc. Like i say, it isnt 100% accurate so i am hoping some others can help me fill in some blanks.
