OK as a passionate Ford supporter we all know that we have had some lean years at the mountain (except for 06, 07, & now 08 ) and until Marcos came along we where struggling to win a championship.
So I was thinking what do most of you prefer a Ford winning Bathurst or a Championship.
Me personally would choose Bathurst "every time".
Now dont get me wrong I want to see Ford win the championship as well and IMHO Craig won it in 06 and Jamie won it in 07, but I really think that this year we can win both, now that would put a smile on my face for a very very long time.
Bathurst or championship

same here i think they can win both this year.
its about time a ford wins the championship.
bathurst is in the bag craig and jamie again this is there year 08.

Why would you make us choose?!!! That’s a difficult question to answer because most diehard v8 fans would remember both the championship and Bathurst winners for the year but those fans with more fleeting interests would only remember the Bathurst winners (if that). So do you choose a broader public accolade for a day (but what a day!) or the satisfaction of sustaining success throughout an entire year? I was still proud of what TV achieved last year without winning the championship, particularly with the enduro double. I was disappointed when Ford didn’t win Bathurst back during Marcos’ reign but I was happy once the championship had been won. So for me, as long as we get one or the other I’m happy. Both would make me ecstatic!

They boys right now are focusing on the Enduro’s after that i’ll set their sights on the Championship… mind you i bet they’ll still be pushing hard each race to make sure their right up there
TVF-888 3:14 pm May 15th 2008
actually, come to think about it, bathurst for sure, think back, Rick kelly won the championship without winning a race, bathurst is a better win i think, once again tho, both deserve credit, 888 have been up there for both of them since 2005…… would love to see CL win a c’ship for ford tho.

Yeah I know where your comin from Chuck, I would love to see Craig win a championship in his days with Ford. He has won everything else for us so all he needs is a championship while driving a Ford.
Come to think of it who has won a championship for both manufacturers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hmmm none come to mind.
Bathurst is just so special for me because I started watching Bathurst just when Moffat & Bondy won the big 1 & 2. Then not long after that Ford pulled there sponsorship of the ATCC and Ford struggled there was only 1 or 2 blokes running around when the Evil Empire had it all to itself, then along came Dick Johnson and man I worshiped that guy. He didn’t win a heap for us but he was about the only one out there flyn the Ford flag.
Anyway all my school mates where Holden supporters & when Bathurst came around Ford got flogged and I really took it personally. I can remember watching so many Bathurst’s where it was all Holden year in year out and I will never forget in 97 i think it was when poor ol Seto only had a hand full of laps to go and the race was his and then the engine dropped a valve spring, I was gutted. So I guess when a Ford wins Bathurst it is like “YEAH TAKE THAT YOU HOLDEN PUSS HEADS” sorry to any Holden fans, as I said “i took it a bit too personally”. But I just love seeing Ford win Bathurst and last year was just fantastic as we had at one stage 4 Fords in the lead and we got a 1,2,3 just awesome.
So lets all hope that this year we can win the championship and Bathurst.

I have got to say Bathurst.
It has been around for 45 years and you always rember who won it, its a test of endurance no time for a break, you just have to push hard all day where as the championship is a race there and DNF there which might work out to a championship win - like rick kelly 06 win but i think that was more who is the best cheat Rick Tander or Skaife.
But you always rember the race at bathurst you rember all day like rick kellys tyre poping 07 and Lowndes v tyre 05 and back to the Johnson rock incedent.
Sully 5:42 pm May 15th 2008
The greedy Sully says both but, to pick just one, I’d have to say Bathurst. When you win Bathurst, you become(no pun intended) king of the mountain. Everyone remembers that you won it. You not only make history but, you become it too.
hell corner 8:36 pm May 15th 2008
Darren, you are only one year off,as a seton fan in a house full of holden fans(most of my mates),my mates still taunt me about bathurst 1996,but i also remind them how gutted they were when the hrt car of skaife/brock came to a stop in 1997,i enjoy the championship and the enduros and i think they should stand alone, maybe they should have a sprint championship and an enduro championship or they could do what A1 are doing, a sprint race and then a much longer race and bring back the endurance series at the end of the season.

Touche.
Tinks 7:30 pm May 16th 2008
Mmmm…. very difficult to choose. Both would be fantastic, but if I had to choose one over the other, then Bathurst would probably win out. You can win a championship without winning a race all year, but to win at Bathurst is a truly amazing effort by 2 drivers and an awesome team… very, very special.
Darth Vader 7:36 pm May 16th 2008
gotta agree with you Tinks, definetly Bathurst
Matt Cousins 10:31 pm May 16th 2008
Bathurst needs to be a stand alone race again……..How can you put your championship campaign in the hands of a co driver?
Besides the history and prestige of winning Bathurst are equal to that of a championship………let it be its own achievement once again.
Here Here Mr Wood!
PS.Thats one flash looking newsletter mate!
TVF-888 8:51 am May 17th 2008
Matt, couldnt agree more,
I tried to get my yr 10 teacher to make that a debate topic back in 2000, that bathurst should not be part of the ATCC.
David Wood 1:12 pm May 19th 2008
opne the can of worms there matty…. the Bathurst part of championship debate. Yes, I agree with you - the race should be stand alone. Let the boys race for it rather than have to worry about championships. Put the guns in the lead cars together and race it out.
And i will send you the finished product on the newsletter matt… it does look unreal !
TVF-888 4:25 pm May 19th 2008
