Is it just me,or has anyone else noticed the lack of spectators at Bahrain. Maybe they need to promote the V8's a bit better over there. It would be good if the sport had as many spectators over there as it does here and in NZ….What does everyone else think?

We could certainly take our pick of seats…
TC is talking doing 2 rounds in Bahrain in the future… seriously. What is the man thinking? I know it makes the series some serious money, but as far as exposure goes, surely it’s not worth the pain of the travelling. What about Singapore? A night race?! Hmm… I’m sure overseas rounds are important to the series, but two rounds in a destination where about 88 people turn up to the race? Pfft. Unimpressed.
Conversely, all KINDS of impressed with Jamie’s effort on the weekend - looking forward to seeing him repeating said dominance in a fortnight and again in a month. I feel a celebration coming on…!

Yer heard TC talking about Bahrain n Singapore, but for these rounds to pull in the crowds they need to seriously think about promoting the V8’s alot better overseas than what they have done thats for sure!! we know there is a huge fan base here at home n also in NZ so I believe we can acheive the same results if the promotion is done correctly…. n yes I too fell a huge celebration coming on!!! It sure is shaping up to be Jamies year that’s for sure
I’m LOOOOVVVVIIINNNGGGG it sooooo very much
Congats again to Jamie Craig n the whole team

If TC wants to do all these overseas races then why not try to make the series International with the likes of Fabrizio Giavanardi driving and events in the UK and what not.
I know he has tried this before but for mine it’s either try again or scrap the International rounds.

Has TC lost the plot wanting to hold two rounds in Bahrain. Im sure TC was talking about cost containment not long ago. V8 Supercars would be better off running another round in NZ. Thats where the international fans are and its closer and cheaper to get there. Given the grandstands were not full at Bahrain how could he be even considering another round there.
Are we going to be know as V8 Supercars International now?

I know they were almost empty i wish i could have been there to take up a seat! I wonder how many Aussies made the trip over?
I guess they want to try and promote V8’s around Asia, more support & more money?
If they do another round there and in Singapore i wonder if any what Aus rounds we will lose?

If they were to add an extra overseas round such as Bahrain or Singapore I believe they would need to add an extra round to the year. The danger they face is that if they take our wonderful race offshore for empty seats then they will ultimately face empty seats here at home and a loss of TV viewing spectators. Would that not ultimately hurt the Series if you start to lose bums in seats here in Australia?

Keep in mind they want to run two rounds at a country that has travel warnings against it??
And everyone I have spoken to havn’t watched the race today because the news announced the results this morning and they can’t be bothered. So even the sponsors get little out of it.

Would the event be there if Holden did not sell Chev badged cars in the Middel East…?

Bahrain looks like a great facility, but looks very empty when there is no-one watching. If you wanted to go to a round and get guaranteed the best seats in the house and walk about without crowds - this would be it !
a 2nd round there is absurd. especially as it would come at the expense of a well patronised Australian round, such as Winton. The Deserted 400 should be a once a year affair, if at all. There is no commercial merit in going to Bahrain for most of the sponsors. I can’t imagine Glenfords, the Bottle-O or Autobahn expanding into Bahrain any time soon….
Singapore would be interesting.

I agree David, it looks like a world class circuit but “no fans” I couldn’t believe it.
I think Cochrane would be better off trying to get the V8’s over into the UK (England), they love the tin tops over there & have some great circuits, plus I have no doubt the V8’s would draw the motor racing fans of England out in there droves to hear the sound of a real engine ( a V8 ).
Go Jamie, great effort in Bahrain, it’s in the bag.

Im sorry but the people talking about the travel warrnings…. I think australia has put the whole of the middle east under travel warning…. Bahrain has never experinced a terrorist attack its a buetiful, modern and very liberal country…. anyone who says that its dangerous has never visited it… im sure jamie can tell you he loves his hotel
Cait 10:18 am November 10th 2008
Yeah there weren’t many people. I was wondering who Jamie would be waving at when he finished the race other than the T8 guys. There weren’t many people in the stands. They should advertise and ask people to come along.

Maybe instead of doing an extra round in Bahrain where there is little spectators they should think of doin a round in America where they love their motor sport n where the likes of Marcos Ambrosse is doing so well in Nascar!

Reading Motorsport E-news.. I think what they are looking at is to have 2 consecutive rounds in the ‘east - with the other one at another circuit about 450km away.
I can see where overseas rounds are a real issue - remember all the cars and equipment also have to be shipped, go through quarantine and then be transported to the track and unpacked. I really think there should be an extra week each side of the overseas rounds… its just so tight timewise if a team has a bad round.
