This is part of an article that i found in Australin Muscle Car Mag issue 36
V8Supercar Drivers are Boring
Despite Channel 7's desperate attempts to turn every driver into a household name . When it comes to selling the sport through its most direct outlet, TV, we see a fine crop of (mostly) well groomed young family men who dare not speak ill of anything. with the occasional exception being that they may have disagreements with "Eachother" They look the same, they dress the same, they sound the same and from what they offer us in a small brief interveiw you would be under the impression that they think the same as well. "The guys did a great job with the car today, ect " Drivers like Peter Brock, Dick Johnson and Allan Moffit are all admored as greats of the sport. We learnt that they had a level of talent beyond their rivals and their records insure that they will always be admired in such a way but results based admiration is one thing . Around the Bar as drinkers recall the greats of the past, Its the carisma of these three men and others like them that always springs to mind before any recollection of a pole position or fastest lap. Due to the dictation of modern day sponsership and television it seems unlikely that he current crop of stars will ever be remembered in this way.
End of article
Has the person who wrote this seen a broadcast lately ???
Some of theDrives are a little like Bran while others are absolute fruit loops.
Yes some of the drivers of today will not be remember but others will be remembered along with the likes of Brocky, Moffit and Johnson
motor racing history is like any part of history people are only remember if they make their own mark on the world . A good example of this is Craig and Jamie's Back to Back Bathurst wins or Paul Morris' comments after some of the races lately
The same article has comments on the F1 drivers along the same lines
Surely the person who wrote the article heard DC's coment about Massa after the Aust Gp
" I'm still wonder if DC did kick the S$%#T out of him and what colours it was if he did"

I remember seeing this article i read the first bit and didnt go any further cause i thought however wrote this has no idea and obviously is more into Football rather than anything that requires talent (no offence to football players just not a sport for me!)

Australian Muscle Car Magazine - I thought Mark Oastler had something to do with this mag, and Mark knows the game very well. Highly underated as a commentator as well…
Anyway, some of the drivers can be bland. Yes, in some cases the retoric is similar. I personally feel this is why Russell Ingall has the following he has - one of the last great cavaliers… not afraid to tell it like it is.
The V8SA rules about bringing the sport into disripute may have a lot to do with this lack of colour. The rules have been relaxed this year, so maybe we might see the drivers come out with more persona that in the past.
It is not as if none of them have a personality or an opinion !
Then have a look at Jamie. Jamie always gives us something during an interview, he is always honest and forthright, without being arrogant or shifting blame. That is refreshing in itself.

The author of that article is obviously a tosser.
However, I will say that Channel 7 has no idea about the V8’s and I don’t think the V8’s fit into their target audience. I did prefer it on Channel 10 (also not perfect)… but then again tv in general is a load of crap at the moment and I don’t bother much with it anyway except when the V8’s are on (or other car/bike racing or related shows) - but that’s just me and I don’t expect anyone to agree with that.
One problem being that I’m sick of the commentators trying to get little cat fights started between the drivers. I also find that they focus too much on the drivers in the lead rather than covering the whole track (and they cut across to challenges further back in the pack too late)… but nothing is perfect… and we probably can’t all be happy with what they do - just my opinion.
In saying that though, if someone is going to watch the V8’s regularly… they will make the effort to do so regardless of what channel it is on.
I think the drivers are fine - does the author of that article think the drivers are ‘manufactured’ these days? Because I surely don’t put any of the drivers into a clone pool. In fact, I wouldn’t find too many similarities between them to make the judgment that they are all ‘the same’
What a loser. I’d fight him… what’s his name

Some drivers are more bland than others. I think Rick Kelly has to take the award for the most boring driver.
He always sounds as if he is reading from a script that his PR person has just handed him.
