Alcohol signage in Bahrain

Is there something in Bahrain that prevents Major Alcohol signage on cars???

i noticed on the w/e that the 3 Alcohol sponsored cars had different signage:

JIM BEAM was replaced with THE TEAM but still had small JB signage
JACK DANIELS was replaced with JACK LIVES HERE yet once again had small JD signage
BOTTLE'O entry had HERTZ signage to replace BOTTLE'O as the ymust be an aussie company i assume..

anywy, just wanted to know what the go was with all this??

Cheers

Roh

Yes there is. It’s a dry country and you aren’t allowed to advertise, buy or consume alcohol.

Because of the country’s religion alcohol is banned in some parts and therefore so is the advertising.

it is a good idea, but its perfectly acceptable to advertise tobacco in bahrain and be sponsored by them, whilst 90% of the rest of the world has banned it.

Alchahol is not banned in bahrain. You can drink till you knock yourself out… however both alchahol and TOBACOO advertising is banned….

Yeah I was wondering what the go was with that… But now I know and thats really cool that they do that. Still don’t know why they took the XXXX girls coz wouldn’t the outfits they wear be disrespectful to that country??? Most of the women there were pretty covered up but they weren’t.

Cait-

Nope its not disrespectful…. people here dont cover up much and if they want to its ur choice…. they cant say anything to people who dont want to…and vice versa… at times even I think its extreme (people walking around in bikinis in the middle of a shopping mall makes no sense to me)…. the only reason alchaol is not promoted is because the country tends to be surronded by Qatar, Sadui and Kuwait… lets just say that they wont be to happy with alchahol being promoted here… its not banned every store atleast sells some Heniken.. its just that advertising is banned for alchaholic and tobacoo substances.
