it can't go hidden valley than ipswich…townsville is the 10-12 july and then ipswich is in august.
The dates have only just recently been released, and we already have had so much trouble finding accommodation in townsville for supercars…ended up getting some, but not what we wanted, so get in quick you guys if you're planning to go….
Doe 7:02 pm July 21st 2008
i wouldn’t count on Eastern Creek being a round next year …..
Steph 8:17 pm July 21st 2008

Eastern Creeks not running next year…It was on the V8 website a few weeks ago
LMG - Moira 12:42 pm July 22nd 2008
And here I was thinking it was lucky I had traded Oran Park from being my local track to Eastern Creek. next year neither of them are running!
I heard a rumour they were in talks about having one around Homebush. Let’s hope that goes ahead!
Tania Hamilton 1:56 pm July 22nd 2008
Hamilton 400 again for me in 2009. I’ll be running Jamie’s reunion thing there in 2009. Well hopefully, lol.
David Wood 5:10 pm July 22nd 2008
According to the V8 Gods, Townsville will replace Oran Park and all other rounds will remain.
I wouldnt consider Queensland Raceway a certainty, given the state of it’s presentation on the weekend. Bloody disgraceful.
Larissa 6:22 pm July 22nd 2008
It would be nice if the NZ round was a bit eariler than april as you can’t exactly count on the weather been good at that time of the year but I will be there no matter what

Yay only two weeks break in between rounds
know it’s tougher for the teams n drivers but I get withdrawls from the V8’s when there are such big gaps between rounds like this year!!!

Oh i agree with you David - Havent they heard of a lawn mower or something !! It was hard to see the cars over the LONG grass !! Well maybe not that bad but its was very disapointing .

For some reason September 1st is ringings bells IRT a release date of the 2009 calendar, anyhoo, I found this…..
V8 Supercars Australia Chairman Tony Cochrane has categorically ruled out the possibility of a round of the V8 Supercar Championship in Singapore next year.
But he has indicated it is on V8 Supercars Australia’s radar for 2010.
“To save you the speculation, we’ll not be ready before 2010,” he told journalists earlier this month.
Meanwhile, the 2009 V8 Supercar calendar is starting to take shape.
Every existing event has a contract with the V8 Supercars for next year, except for Oran Park, Winton, Eastern Creek and Queensland Raceway.
And it has already been announced that 2008 is the final year the V8s will race at Oran Park, which Cochrane reiterated.
This round will be replaced by the impending Townsville round.
It also looks likely that the round at Eastern Creek will be axed, given that Cochrane recently said the V8 Supercars had “no interest” in going back to the Sydney circuit.
The obvious replacement for the Western Sydney circuit would be the Grand Finale planned for Homebush; however, it remains a mystery exactly which circuit will replace Eastern Creek should a race around the 2000 Olympic Games precinct fail to materialize.
Cochrane also dowsed recent speculation about V8s not returning to Winton.
“I see no reason why Winton won’t be on the calendar next year,” he said when asked if the Northern Victorian country circuit had a future on the V8 calendar.
Cochrane has also confirmed that the 2009 V8 season will be more compact, as host broadcaster, Channel Seven, has no Olympic Games to content with next year.
Meanwhile, the contract for the V8s to race at Barbagallo Raceway finishes next year, and Cochrane said that V8 Supercars was still keen to have a race in Western Australia post-2009.
“We are working very diligently with the Western Australian Government to build a new facility or significantly upgrade the old one,” he said.
A Western Australian Government spokeswoman said the consultants who were commissioned for a feasibility study were progressing their work.
“We are keen to see their recommendations as soon as possible,” the spokeswoman said.
V8 Supercars Australia must lodge the 2009 calendar with the FIA by the first week of August.

imagine bianca if one of the cars had a mechanical issue and had to pull off the road into that grass. Hot V8 exhaust on long grass = bonfire
Andrew Robinson 1:09 pm July 23rd 2008
David,
Would be a good excuse for a safety car wouldnt it…
Back on topic… reading between the lines of other articles, Clipsal looks like 15th March.
Planning of going to Clipsal (where I live), Townsville (Where my stepsister lives) and Bathurst at the moment.
And… scary thought: Only 2 more rounds until Bathurst. Looking forward to it.
Hayley Turnbull 4:54 pm July 23rd 2008
I’m pretty sure that I either heard on the V8 telecast or read on the V8 website that the 2009 calendar will be announced/released the weekend of the Phillip Island 500- I believe that’s how they’ve done it in previous years, announcing it at the 500km enduro event?
VSA don’t want to return to EC, Townville is penciled in for July 10-12, Clipsal will be the season opener, and Bathurst since about 2000 has been the traditional early to mid October date, followed by Indy two weeks later.
It’s a pity they aren’t going toOP next year, because I’ve heard that the circuit isn’t actually closing until the end of next year. If they aren’t happy with EC, why not just go to OP next year and push for Singapore in 2010?
jamiefan25 6:05 pm July 23rd 2008
I can’t wait for next Season.

And if homebush get the green light it will be there for a 5year deal .
