Ummm mah Jamie. What did you do during the media rides that copped you a $2,000 fine. ![]()
If you had spun it or fishtailed it while I was in the car I would have personally written you a $2000 cheque to cover it!. ![]()

And how many cartons of beer do you owe the team mechanics now?
Leaha 10:15 am April 20th 2008
Wow $2000…thats a bit of a fine hey!!
Going a bit loose would be fun, when I went for the lap at Eastern Creek last year I told the driver to give it heaps!! Just because I am chick doesnt mean I want him to go easy…Full noise round the track is the best feeling ever!!! Not a good kiwi experience for Jamie

Tinks 7:48 pm April 20th 2008
Not sure. That’s why I was asking.

Thank Mel, is there nothing that you dont know.
Still pretty interested to know what you would need to do to get such a fine?
**Mel~FORDGIRL~Whincup** 8:37 am April 21st 2008
I have heard of drivers getting fines for going of track with a passenger in the car or perhaps he gave it a bit too much stick going around one of the corners…..but like Liss said, wouldn’t you pay to get a bit of action like that!!
Sim 8:40 am April 21st 2008
I would gladly pay the fine if I was in the car. But I hope that we find out what happened. There mustn’t have been any contact or we would have seen it.
Maddy 9:32 am April 21st 2008
Yeah this seems a bit crazy….would be good to hear Jamie side.
Andrew Robinson 9:37 am April 21st 2008
If I remember correctly, meeting rides are restricted to maximum of 80% of race pace… which is usually quite enough for somebody who hasn’t been in a V8 supercar before…
Harriet Dinning 10:12 am April 21st 2008
I agree Mel if i was in a V8 car i would want to go around full steam ahead not half heartly.
Doe 11:11 am April 21st 2008
All or nothing if i was in the car…… might be claw marks in the dash by the time the ride was over but it would be worth every second ( note to self trim nails before ever getting in a V8Supercar )
Kate 11:19 am April 21st 2008
Me too, one speed FLAT OUT!! although i am a somewhat nervous passenger and have a tendancy to grab the drivers leg!, I will also take note dorothy, watch where you are grabbing lmao!
Doe 1:37 pm April 21st 2008
Well its either the dash or the drivers leg but i was thinking that with how hard i squeeze and how long my nails are it would be safer to go for the dash ( loss of blood to leg could cause crash lmao )
Kate 1:38 pm April 21st 2008
lol yeah but with the harness you wont be able to reach the dash i am sure that jamies leg would be a much better option! oh i am cheeky today! lol
Bec M 6:51 pm April 21st 2008
LOL Kate
I think Jamie would lose it if u did that
Daniel Bright 12:52 pm April 22nd 2008
Thats not fair is it? if you win a price like that you would want to go flat out all the way, Jamie shouldn’t get a fine for something his fan wanted.
**Mel~FORDGIRL~Whincup** 4:53 pm April 22nd 2008
Whether it seems unfair or not, it all comes down to the safety of the passenger.
Kate 5:18 pm April 22nd 2008
i would agree with you there Mel, the cars arent set up for two people neither are the drivers used to driving with the extra wieght in the car, i am sure its for insurance reasons to. i would not have wanted to be in that car when Jamie hit the wall. I did a lap in the guest car at Calder park and that only got to 160km that felt like we were flying on that track
